mynew Brother printer HL-2135W is not able to be downloaded on my mac 10.9.1 system. I attempted to install the new drivers from the Brother solutions website but it is still to working. Is there any way around this?
If not, there could be an issue with the USB printer cable. To check it, open System Information and select USB in the left column. The top right pane will show all the USB busses on the Mac. Do you see the Brother listed under one of these USB busses? If no, then the cable is most likely the problem. Try another cable and see if the Brother is listed. Once you manage to make it appear under one of the USB busses then you should be able to add it using the Printers & Scanners preference pane.
I cannot initially download the brother brinter softwear because of this message "This software does not contain drivers for your computer operating system. Please visit the Brother Solutions Center for the latest update information." So no, the printer is not registering in my new macbook pro ? The driver that the brother website says is compatible, is not working. Thank you for your help. Let me know if you have any other thoughts.
According to this Apple KB article, a printer driver for your Brother HL-2135 is available from Apple. So you don't need to download the driver from Brother. Instead, when you connect the printer to the Mac, you should get a message stating that a driver is available from Apple and would you like to download it. If you do not get this message, then check the System Information as I explained in the second paragraph above. If the Mac cannot see the printer then it will not attempt to download a supporting driver.
have run into similar issue, not the exact model of printer but i downloaded driver for 10.13 High Sierra and it works fine.
yes, the latest monterey software didnt work for me, i didnt expect the old software to even install but was in a rush and printer working fine now.
The error suggested that i run the command with --fix-missing and run apt update before, but it didnt work. So i tried to download the file and install it with sudo apt install ./texlive-binaries...+deb12u1_amd64.deb. Then running sudo apt install texmaker still did not found the package as it recognized the version is 5.1+deb12u1_amd64 and not 5.1. I looked it up on google, did not find much, and moved on Overleaf.
But today, i ran apt update && apt upgrade, and after i reboot i come to a tty. I am surprised. I found out i can't start gnome with startx or sudo systemctl enable gdm3. It turns out apt updated gnome-shell-common to a deb12u1_amd64 version, and it broke the DE.
But i think i found the issue. I have a Brother HL-2135W printer that used to work on Debian 11. However, this time it did not work out of the box so when i tried to install it with the script found on Brother's support website, it was a 32 bit script : -et-supports/hl-2135w/downloads
If you've recently switched from 2.4GHz to 5GHz wifi - this is the problem! Brother printers cannot connect to 5GHz wifi, but if you ask your internet provider, they can split the combined network into two separate networks, a 2.4GHz one and a 5GHz one - then connect your printer to the 2.4GHz!! I spent far too long trying to figure this out, so I hope this saves someone the hassle.
I had updated my firmware to the latest one. After that whenever I try punching in the wifi passkey, it shows connection fail. Whichever method I use it shows connection fail. My printer model is HL-B2080DW. Even Air Print is not working. But WiFi direct does work along with USB too. I am at my wits end...
First you have to reinstall the Printer drivers and connect with WiFi and check Printer IP address on router page IF your IP Address is there so Come to your computer and Go to Control panel - printer and devices - and click on left top corner and click on Add devices and you will get your printer name over there and connect with that devices.
1. First of all check if the printer has a small interactive screen, where you can navigate through a menu of some sort. If it does, look for an option that says 'setup wizard', then you have to follow the steps the printer gives you. You might have to choose setup wireless network after selecting setup wizard. Afterwards, you might get a screen with a list of wireless networks available, choose your home network (the one you use with your other devices in the house), then it will ask for your password, type it in (password is case sensitive, so be sure to type uppercase letter if needed). After that, you need to wait for a confirmation message saying you are connected to the network. The printer should work.
2. Check if you printer has a wifi button (it is a button that connects to a network automatically.) The button might have a small antenna image, or a wifi image. To use this button you will have to press the setup wireless button on you router/modem first. It should blink, if it does, then go to your printer, press the wifi button, and wait for it to link. If this works, you should get a confirmation message or the wifi button's light will go solid.
3. If your printer doesn't have either a screen or a setup wireless network button (wifi button or WPS), then you should have a usb cable attached to the printer and your computer for it to work. After you connect it, you should look for your printer's setup wizard in you computer in order to setup the wifi settings of the printer.
I just tried for the last couple of hours to connect my HL-5370DW (it's years old, with no WPS, but I love this printer!) wirelessly with our new cable provider router, as opposed to the router of the cable provider we had just left. I FINALLY succeeded!
FIRST, the printer wasn't being recognized when searching for available wireless devices. To solve this you need to RESET THE PRINTER'S NETWORK SETTINGS to the factory default. After the reset the Setup Wizard will recognize the printer. From the 55-page Quick Start Guide, p43:
2. Hold down the GO button as you turn on the power switch. Keeping the GO button pressed, all the LED lights will light, and then the Status LED will turn off. Release the GO button. All the LEDs should now go off.
SECOND, I was continually getting the "FAILED TO ASSOCIATE" ERROR MESSAGE after going through the connection steps (Note: As a guide I was following screen-captured instructions from the last time I had to do this with the previous cable provider).
In my case, the encryption mode for the WPA/WPA2 authentication method changed after getting the new router. Previously, the encryption method was TKIP. The new router, however, was AES. When I changed the encryption from TPIK to AES, the printer connected immediately and all was right with the universe!
i tried this > I moved my cursor to the right of the network key I entered and I keep hitting Ok and nothing happens. I had selected Key1: and inputted my password under that menu. I have no idea what to do, so stuck : /
PROBLEM SOLVED... I have multiple ip addresses that I can connect to, like most people now. The trick is to make sure you are connected to the exact same IP address as your printer is on. Once I made sure my laptop was always connected this way, I have had zero issues with this.
My router was set to 802.11g+n which is fine for printing via WLAN once the printer has received the credentials of the WiFi network. The router tells me that the printer is using 802.11g within the network.
Non of the above worked for me, I manually entered in the IP address, dns server, dns gateway and subnet mask in to the printer directly which worked like a dream. I found that the printer had given itself the wrong IP address and associated details which is why it didn't work.
My brother HLL3210CW printer suddenly fell off the network after several years. While trying to re-connect it would randomly see or not see the correct network but would not connect to it and return a message that it failed to connect. I am using a Netgear Nighthawk MK63 Mesh router system. The Brother printer requires a 2.4 Megahertz network which was available through the router but what I found was that with the router 2.4 Mhz in the AUTO setting for channel selection the printer would not connect. When I set the Channel selection to static setting to Channel 11 the printer connects immediately. Apparently the printer is very picky about what 2.4 Channel it wants. I did not try other channels to see if it would connect but Channel 11 works fine. Hope this helps some of you out there.

HL-2135W errors are often caused by viruses of outdated and corrupted device drivers. Drivers can be stably reliable, but there are cases in which they suddenly stop working unexpectedly. Don't worry, because these PC problems will probably be fixed after updating your Wireless Laser Printer drivers.
It can be difficult to find the exact drivers compatible with your HL-2135W. Even if you are experienced at finding, downloading, and manually updating HL-2135W drivers, the process can still be very time consuming and extremely irritating. An incorrect driver or version for your hardware will cause further damage.
