TheCP210x USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers are required for device operation as a Virtual COM Port to facilitate host communication with CP210x products. These devices can also interface to a host using the direct access driver.

The CP210x Manufacturing DLL and Runtime DLL have been updated and must be used with v 6.0 and later of the CP210x Windows VCP Driver. Before you apply for a learner permit you must choose what type of document you need based on the type of vehicle you will be driving and how you will be using it. Each type of license has unique requirements.

You can submit your application and take your test online, at home, and come to the DMV to complete your application. You will need access to a web-enabled PC, smartphone, or tablet with a webcam, your proof of identity, and a parent or guardian to supervise your test-taking if you are under 18.

To pass, you must get at least 14 of the 20 multiple-choice questions correct, including the correct answers to at least two of the four questions about road signs. If you do not pass you can try again. If you pass your written test we will give you a temporary permit at the office. You will receive your permit within 2 weeks by mail.

Once you have a learner permit, you must have supervised driving practice and take a pre-licensing course or a driver education course before taking your road test. Be sure to follow restrictions on where and when you can drive.

If you pass your test, an interim license that allows you to drive will be available online. Keep the interim license with your photo learner permit until your new license arrives in the mail (in about 2 weeks).

For a Class D, Class DJ, and Class E driver license, the expiration date of your learner permit becomes the expiration date of your driver license. The learner permit and the driver license are valid for a maximum of 5 years. When you apply for a learner permit and a driver license, you pay the fee for the length of time that the documents are valid.

A learner permit only authorizes a person to operate a motor vehicle whenever the permit holder is accompanied by a person who is at least 21-years-of-age and has a valid driver license. T.C.A. 55-50-311.

If you get a REAL ID driver license, you will be able to designate certain options regarding voting, organ donation, Selective Service eligibility, veteran status and special designation indicators such as Autism, Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, and Intellectual Disability. If you get a Limited Purpose driver license, you will be able to make a designation on your license regarding organ donation as well as the special designation indicators. Bipartisan leaders in Congress and safety advocates nationwide are supporting the effort, making DADSS part of a multi-faceted national commitment to reduce and help eliminate drunk driving. The research is being overseen by a team of independent engineers and scientists and being tested under real-world operating conditions before being made available for widespread use in commercial vehicles of the future.

The DADSS Program began in 2008 and was focused on researching and creating proof-of-concept prototypes to determine which technological approaches were most promising for vehicle integration. After extensive research, it was determined that a breath system and touch system were most viable.

Since that time, the Program has focused on ensuring the technology meets strict performance specifications related to accuracy, precision and reliability, so sober drivers are not inconvenienced, and so drunk drivers are never allowed to operate the vehicle.

In 2018, Virginia became the first state to partner with the DADSS Program for the first trial deployment of vehicles through an initiative called Driven to Protect. This successful initiative is expanding to other states for in-vehicle, on-road test trials of the breath technology with sober drivers in naturalistic settings. That same year, the Program expanded on-road testing to include controlled, in-vehicle tests with drinking passengers, to determine how the sensors respond to real-world conditions. Those tests continue today through the Harvard University-affiliated McClean Hospital.
