User reputation AKA stackoverflow@Reputation

This looks like something that will catch on sooner or later. IMHO
"Reputation" is a very social thing that is missing from all those
Social Apps out there.

It's commonly accepted that we are social creatures by nature, and
part of being social includes rankings. Whether you like it or not,
rankings is vital to a society.

As in "How important are you?"

We need a mechanism to rank a user -- higher ranking, higher
reputation.

For a start Stackoverflow's Reputation system looks promising enough.

What you thoughts?

Forums usually have this type of ranking system too with varying degrees of sophistication. I've seen it in vBulletin and phpBB.

I agree this is something we do need to look at. A crude metric would be how much activity a user has engaged in, possibly in the context of a tribe.
