Greetings Part Time Punks.
In case you missed me standing on my soapbox last week about this...this week is the Annual Fundrazor at KXLU.
(And TOMORROW, Thursday, September 29 from 3-6pm PST is the PART TIME PUNKS part of the Fundrazor!)
It is during this 8-day period that the station raises almost 90% of its total operating costs for the year.
It is also the only time during the year that any of us DJs at the station ever will ask you to please please give back
in whatever way you can financially for all of the FREE music we've been giving you all year long.
And of course, here at PTP HQ, I have added further incentives. First of all in the form of VINYL RECORDS that
have been piling up in my closet all year long. The sort of records you hear and love on the radio show -- including
many rarities on Factory Records, 4ad, Creation and Rough Trade!! [see attached list.]
AND of course, this is the one day out of the entire year when you are able to get copies of the Part Time Punks
radio session samplers. As you regular listeners know, I've been doing radio sessions with many of my favorite
bands (obviously/shamelessly inspired by my hero, John Peel) for several years now. These tracks are all recorded
at KXLU exclusively for Part TIme Punks, and sprinkled liberally throughout the year on the program. But every year,
I also put together hand-made compilations which feature one track from each session. And the only way you can
get copies of these Collectors Items is by donating to the station. $25 will get you one volume, or if you buy more than one,
then they are $20 each.
ALSO this year, I have amassed a pretty incredible stack of autographed records by: BEACH FOSSILS, BLOUSE,
CATWALK, COSMETICS, DIRTY BEACHES, HTRK, LED ER EST, MINKS, SAVAGE REPUBLIC, SEAPONY,
SOFT METALS, SOFT MOON, VERONICA FALLS, WEEKEND, XENO & OAKLANDER.
I'm attaching a complete list of premiums for you all to peruse. And then, starting at 3pm PST tomorrow, you can either
But be aware: PHONING IS BEST, because then you're gonna know what is still available on the spot.
As a final note...I am making new PART TIME PUNKS on KXLU T-SHIRTS this year...based on the design in the attached flier. We ran about a half-dozen of PTP shirts short last year. So if yer still missing one, just tell whomever you get on the phone and you'll get it this year.
Last year, Part Time Punks was the #1 Fundraising show at the station.
And I do believe that this fact played a large part in keeping Part Time Punks on the air last year.
(Effectively putting the kibbosh on the plans of one of last year's directors who was gunning for my show.)
So, if you want to keep the Part Time Punks radio show on the air,
I would ask/beg/plead with you all to please give as much as you can.
Thank you ALL for all of your support!
Cheers,
Michael
