Are any wireless barcode scanners tested to create prefixes (to emulate the hotkeys used by partkeepr) to send while scanning?

Is there an IP over LAN way to use barcode scanners in partkeepr?

Wireless ones work exactly the same as hardwired.
I have the Inatech wireless.  Works flawlessly

So, you mean yours has a USB connector.  I am wondering about handhelds that have scanning

and wifi -- if there is any way to get bar codes from an IP address instead of a USB port.  The kind that

uses wireless wifi and an IP address could possibly add the prefixes to do hotkey functions from the

handheld without needing to be close to the computer running partkeepr.

Yes, this has the little USB dongle like a cordless keyboard/mouse.
When I was looking, I didn't see any that were IP based.
This one also has internal storage so if you are out of range, it keeps all scanned data internal until it is in range again

You mean those small PDAs/Smartphones with integrated OS and scanners (here known as MDE, Mobile Data Entry)? I've got a bunch of them but haven't had much luck. Usually the scanner can be configured to act as keyboard emulation, but due to the construction of partkeeper with it's javascript UI it is, in most cases, not possible to use the WebUI directly on the device. These are usually equipped with enterprise grade hard- and software (aka totally outdated) which have only limited support for HTML or alternative browsers. I always wanted to add a simple HTML-only GUI for adding/removing items, but hadn't enough motivation to build something usable yet. At the moment I use RDP to connect to a VM with a decent browser to use these devices, should also work with VNC to connect to your main PC and finish the tasks there after scanning.

That store, then output function sounds good enough for me for now.  I'll look for the Inatech wireless.

I saw how the old Mobile Data Entry handhelds were being dumped because they are inflexible, don't run an open linux, so they are
not easy to repurpose.

Next I was thinking about the xg-100 using wifi since it says it runs linux, but found it is not a linux you can access, and there
seems to be no ethernet based scanning ability in partkeepr.

The last thing I think of along the lines of moving around filing parts and pulling them to kit a run of assembly is using a
computer that runs on batteries and move around with that. Raspberry pi comes to mind, but lots of physical design to do that is
already done in the MDE world.  So maybe a small tablet computer with barcode reader could be used to do warehouse work, then sync
to a desktop computer with big screens and keyboard for checking the work and outputting data for the bookkeeping program.

Meanwhile I'll use a wireless scanner like was suggested.
