For those interested, I have added instructions to install PartKeepr 1.4.0 on a Raspberry Pi 3 to the official Wiki here: https://wiki.partkeepr.org/wiki/PartKeepr_1.4.0_installation_on_a_Raspberry_Pi

I'll be adding more documentation soon as time permits, including automated backup, QR code setup and use cases, etc. I have a bunch of PartKeepr documentation for our organisation internally, I just need some time to convert to the Wiki format so I can share.

Kind regards,
Darian Cabot

I tested an installation on the Raspberry Pi 4 with Raspbian Buster but run into a bunch of issues with the newer PHP APCu that comes with Buster (I tried both PHP7.1 and 7.3).  I did get it to install ok, and looked to work, but I had issues with cronjobs failing, and possibly other problems that weren't obvious to me. At this stage installation on a Raspberry Pi 4 doesn't look to be straightforward, at least using the standard packages.

I've updated the Wiki with this information on the Raspberry Pi page just so it's documented online: https://wiki.partkeepr.org/wiki/PartKeepr_on_Raspberry_Pi

If anyone succeeds in installing PartKeepr reliably on a Raspberry Pi 4, please share! :)

Until then, the Raspberry Pi 3 installation seems to perform quite well.

Kind regards,

Hello Darian,

you should be able to install it on Pi4 but only if you stick with PHP <= 7.1.
The PHP 7.3 will not work due to inconsistencies.

BTW As far as I know the APCu is not used by PartKeepr, only (the nowadays
outdated) APC. Just a hint and not 100% sure if any dependency might use it.

Thanks for the contributing.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for explaining that, I wasn't aware of the APCu vs APC difference.

I did tinker with the RPi4 and PHP 7.1 a bit, and it was running for the most part, but I found some features were broken. The background DB reporting (cron stuff) and I suspect a few other things weren't working.
I was using version 1.4.0 build, not the latest from git in case that matters.

So far the RPi3 install has been stable and performing quite well for our use. If need arises or time permits, I may have another go at getting a stable install on RPi4. Cheers

Kind regards,
Darian Cabot
