Dear Rob,

I am trying to run PartitionFinder on your example data (nucleotid
test.phy).
in the command prompt, i did the suggested steps:
a. Type “python“ followed by a space
b. Drag and drop the “PartitionFinder.py” file (which is
in the
PartitionFinder folder you just unzipped) onto the
command prompt. The
path to ‘PartitionFinder.py’ will be added
automatically.
c. Type another space
d. Drag and drop the blue ‘example/nucleotide’ (in the
PartitionFinder
folder) onto the command prompt
3. Hit Enter/Return to run PartitionFinder

My analyses stop with the following error: importError: no module
named 'config'

PS: i installed python and updated the “PATH”as proposed in page 8 of
the manual.
PC used: Sony, Ram 8G, windows 8, core i5

thanks
Amor

Hi Amor,

That's an odd error.

Could you do three things to help me track down the problem:

1. Please copy and paste your entire command prompt and post it to the list.
2. Please attach the log.txt file to your email. (It should be in the same folder as the analysis. Let me know if it doesn't exist)
3. Type "python" at the command prompt, and copy and paste the entire prompt (including your command and all the headers) to the list.

Many thanks,

Rob

Hi Amor,

Great! Glad you got it working. Out of interest, can you tell me which versino of Python didn't work?

I will try and figure out why, and fix it. Failing that, I can make sure the program gives a useful error message in this case, and update the manual too.

Cheers,

Rob

Hi All,

Any Python 2.7.x will work. Python 3 will not work.
