In the event that your child needs to attend a day outside of their schedule, you will need to purchase a single day drop-in. Your child must be registered for the Before/After School program in order to use a single day drop-in. You must notify the Before/After School Director or the Beach and Recreation Department by phone by 3:00pm the day before that you would like to purchase a single day drop-in so we can staff accordingly. You must also notify the school that your child will be attending after school on a day outside of their schedule.
Our elementary Before and After School programs offer a safe and comprehensive environment for kids to spend their out-of-school time 3 pm to 6 pm During program hours, children will be given the opportunity to socialize with their peers, enjoy a healthy snack provided by the program, participate in indoor and outdoor games, and learn arts and crafts to bring home. Each day participants will be allotted homework and quiet reading time, which accumulates points toward our Reading Rewards program. At the end of each quarter children may spend their points at the Program Store, run by the program supervisor. We do offer homework help and keep track of minutes spent reading and doing homework daily.

We Partner With Schools
Our curriculum is customizable for each district or school. Administrators and parents partner with their Program Director to decide which activities are most important to their scholar's goals.
While we try to make our after school care program affordable for everyone, we understand that cost may be a barrier for some families. We encourage you to apply for financial assistance through our Y For All Program if you find that you may have difficulties in paying your program fees. Click here to download the application and begin the process. Please return your completed application along with the supporting documents to your local YMCA which can be found here.
Our school age programs are licensed by the Texas Department Family & Protective Services (TDFPS) and operate at a 1:15 staff to student ratio (well below the ratio of 1 to 26 required by the state of Texas).
Fun, creative, engaging opportunities await your child on school day mornings and afternoons. Our before- and after-school program for school-age students focuses on what your child needs and enjoys most: creative play indoors and outside, homework support, imaginative STEM activities, and a healthy snack to keep them energized.
In the morning, we set your child up for success during the school day by offering a consistent morning routine with opportunities for calming activities, free play, and a whole group activity designed to encourage students to set a goal for their day ahead.
In the afternoon, your child can get the wiggles out after a day spent in the classroom. Free play as well as structured play-based activities are offered. Play-based learning enables children to build a sense of community in the classroom, enhance their creativity, and grow as collaboration. During outdoor and indoor play, your child will take on physical challenges and develop habits for a healthy lifestyle.
During afternoon sessions, we provide dedicated time for your child to receive homework support. Each school-age classroom is stocked with school supplies and educational resources to support their homework completion.
