Shalom Chaverim,
It has always been the attempts of the Bible scholars to promote a connection between the Habiru and the Hebrews, even though there really is no connection at all. One overlooked facet of the Bible narrative is the fact that the Israelites are commanded to say that our father was a perishing Aramean. That there is a connection between Aram and the Israelites there is no doubt. The wives of Yitschaq and Yaqov were from Aram, and almost all the tribes were born in Aram and Avraham came from Ur of the Kasdim which was a part of the Aramean regions.
One of the earliest references to the Arameans is in the Sumerian and Akkadian, as well as the Egyptian inscriptions as Suti. The Suti were known as nomads who often acted as mercenaries to ward of the invading kings in the land of Cana'an. It is interesting that Avraham is said to have had mercenary retainers in his house and his 318 men routed the confederated kings of Chedolaomer. I have not read in any place which speaks of the Suti in a manner which makes mention of any cognate relation to Suti among the Hebrew text. I believe that there is a cognate relation between Suti and Seth ben Adam. The yod suffix is normally a application of tribal affiliation, and so Suti would naturally mean Sethite. If this is so, this could be the missing link everyone has been searching for, because Suti is prominent is the inscriptions of Egypt, Sumeria, and Akkadian, as well as most other Near Eastern lands where the Hebrews settled and dwelt.
