I was wondering if u could which dictionary you wud recommend for someone of english tongue trying to learn urdu. I would say my understanding of urdu is fairly ok, I understood most of this song without translation but it helped clarify and really want a deeper understanding of the poetry of the language and want to understand some of my other fav songs/poems.

I really do not think that you need a dictionary if you can understand this qawalli to some extent, because being a native speaker many fail to understand it completely. And those who do, always had different interpretations.

Amazing translation man. It is true that one needs to know Urdu to really appreciate this poetry to the fullest but the translation really helps those who are just starting out or still developing their handle on the language. Again, great job!

As usual , I started searching for the meaning in English. I found your translation which helped me to understand it better. I love the Urdu language, (i used to have Pakistanis neighbour in the UAE) This is the only way I keep in touch with this language now.

As Tariq Ch. mentioned (in his above comment on 29/07/2012), Sufi prose is written addressing the God Almighty, which people commonly mistaken for the love/infatuation/feelings for human beings.
