Most of 2020 Tour Rescheduled to 2021 Posted: 22 May 2020 02:53 PM PDT Today Jimmy Buffett announced that the 2020 Slack Tide Tour dates that were scheduled before mid-September have been rescheduled to 2021. Jimmy Buffett’s New Album ‘Life on the Flip Side’ Available Today Posted: 28 May 2020 02:32 AM PDT With the debut of ‘Life on the Flip Side’ today, Jimmy Buffett has released his first studio album since ‘Songs From St. Somewhere’ in 2013. You can get the album now at Amazon as a Digital Download, Audio CD, or on Vinyl. Read ABC’s review of the album here: The 14-track “Life on the Flip Side” is no departure from what Parrotheads have come to expect — that special Gulf Coast mix of country, pop, folk and rock, topped by Buffett’s swaying voice. Few can mix steelpans, trombones and pedal steel guitar so effortlessly. Though the songs were written before the global pandemic, the album nods to our viral troubles. Buffett writes that he’d like them to be the soundtrack as we claw our way to normalcy. Think of it as the flip side of COVID-19. “Hopefully, the songs we wrote and recorded, will also help folks deal with the fallout,” he writes in the liner notes. “There will be a time and a place when we emerge from these troubled waters and things will change for the better.” Buffett’s incredible ear for hooks and light grooves are often overshadowed by his lyrics about fish tacos and sunsets, but don’t underestimate his song skills. Many of these tunes are destined to be played two generations from now at sandy beach-side snack bars. Will we be wearing masks still? Produced by two members of his longtime backing band, Michael Utley and Mac McAnally, Buffett is also clearly having fun on the new album, including the jokey ditty “Cussin’ Island” where he rhymes “hypocrite” with “Messerschmitt.”

Buffett to Appear on The Tonight Show Posted: 01 Jun 2020 07:46 AM PDT This Friday, June 5th, Jimmy Buffett will perform on The Tonight Show: At Home Edition with Jimmy Fallon to promote his new album Life on the Flip Side. Buffett last appeared on The Tonight Show back in 2018 to promote the musical ‘Escape to Margaritaville.’ Gordon Ramsay and Maude Apatow will also appear.

Buffett’s ‘Life on the Flip Side’ Debuts at No. 2 on Billboard 200 Posted: 07 Jun 2020 07:30 PM PDT Only Lady Gaga beat out Jimmy Buffett on the Billboard 200 all-genre album chart this week. ‘Life on the Flip Side’ sold 75,000 units in its debut week: From USA Today: Also on the Billboard charts, Jimmy Buffett made waves with “Life on the Flip Side,” his first new album in seven years. The feel-good effort debuted at No. 2 with 75,000 units; it marks Buffett’s 40th time on the Billboard 200 since 1974.

Buffett to Make Grand Ole Opry Debut Posted: 09 Jun 2020 02:33 PM PDT Jimmy Buffett will appear on the Grand Ole Opry for the first time later this month: From CountryNow.com: The Opry shared the news on Tuesday (June 6), revealing that Buffett will make his debut on the legendary stage alongside Opry member Brad Paisley and award-winning singer/songwriter/musician Mac McAnally. Buffett will step into the Circle on Saturday, June 27 for the 4,930th broadcast of the Saturday Night Grand Ole Opry Show. Shows with live audiences at the Grand Ole Opry remain paused, however, fans can tune in each week via live stream or WSM Radio.

Buffett Postpones Grand Ole Opry Show Posted: 19 Jun 2020 02:44 PM PDT Jimmy Buffett has announced that due to recent spikes in COVID-19, he will postpone his show at the Grand Ole Opry planned for June 27th: would just like to say how disappointed I am that because of circumstances with the recent spikes in COVID-19, I have had to postpone my trip to Nashville to play with Mac and Brad Paisley. I have loved the Grand Ole Opry since the days I covered shows at the Ryman as a Billboard reporter on Music Row in the early 70s before I moved to Margaritaville. As soon as it is safe for me to travel back to Music City and meet up with Mac and Brad, I will come play for you. Can’t wait. See you then and keep your Fins Up.
