Read this article, go to the Print version (link at the top), print it out
and fax it to every Texas legislator who has a fax number on their web page:
It doesn't matter if it is duplicated.  In fact, that's even better!  Fax it
to them every day if you wish.  Also fax them the Animal Welfare vs Animal
Rights flyer on our website.  We have the fanatics' quotes -- out of their
own mouths.

The national "animal rights" campaign to vilify responsible dog and cat
breeders and render their national registries impotent is in full swing at
our state legislature!  What better way to end all use, breeding and
ownership of dogs and cats than with legislation?  "Stop them from being
born" is their mantra.

Wayne Pacelle, Vegan President of HSUS, was quoted when asked if he
envisioned a future without pets:  "If I had my personal view, perhaps that
might take hold.  In fact, I don't want to see another dog or cat born."
(Bloodlines:  Nature, Culture and the Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, p. 266)

These radical extremists have no desire to improve the conditions in
so-called "puppy mills."  They want regulations to shut down hobby breeders
and commercial breeders completely or make it so cumbersome that no one will
do it.  This 81st Legislative Session in Texas clearly demonstrates their
agenda with bills filed for Mandatory Dog and Cat Spay/Neuter and the
Breeder/Sales/Puppy and Kitten Lemon Law Bill.  Make this clear to our
legislators.

No pet loving legislator should support these bills if they want their
grandchildren to be able to own and love a pet.  All committee members'
votes on the onerous bills we oppose will be posted to our website:
Ask your legislator's office how he is voting on the bills posted on our
website and let us know.  The list of bills can be printed out with the PDF
link.  Besides these bills mentioned above, other bad bills are being
promoted by Texas cities and counties who would like to legislate pet
ownership out of existence.

Tell legislators we'll be watching how they vote and we'll hold them
accountable!

We must kill the bills in committees.  It's only a little more than six
weeks before the legislature adjourns so hang in there.  So far the bills
heard in committee are pending, except for HB 458 (limiting numbers of dogs
in certain counties) which has gone to the Calendars Committee to be
scheduled for a floor vote in the House. It can still be held up
indefinitely in the Calendars Committee.

Aren't your animals worth it?   Texas is well known for the battle at the
Alamo when those brave men drew a line in the sand.  We can do no less this
legislative session for our animals that mean so much to us.
