I've not reauthored a disc yet, so I can't speak with any authority there, but I can tell you that you do need to load a disc burned from .iso for the oppo to recognize it -- individual .dsf/.dff files won't do it.

Yes, DSD files can be re-authored but the commercial software is expensive,. so any you get over the web (and not pay for) is likely illegal pirated stuff. Be very careful!! Don't use pirated software (and certainly don't come here or other public forums asking how to use it)!

As per Oppos recent announcements, your Oppo 105 USB input will soon be able to read DSF and DFF files (i.e think compilation playlists), so I wouldn't go to deep into a laborious and expensive method to make all these non-scarletbook SACD-R's. First off, they then can't be extracted, and second, they won't sound as good as the original DSF (or DFF) files coming across USB.

Lots of the non-scarletbook ISOs out there aren't even DSF rips, but instead 24 bit PCM rips (like DVD-A) that have then been re-authored by DIY'ers as SACD ISOs. They cannot be extracted (cuz they don't follow scarletbook table of contents, etc) and they are not of the very highest quality once all this conversion is done.

I ve been reading all day and ,and no applaudable results yet . What i found is my 105 does already play extracted .dffs over the usb dac input from my laptop ( is this what you referred to as oppos announcement ,or am i being new and missed your meaning ?)

If Oppo wont do this , then im willing to purchase software , or at least consider it once ive been informed what software(S) ill need and where to purchase . ive tried philips with no luck ,and dont know names of any other softwares .

Once again what i want to do is make one sacd (iso) from various tracks extracted with scarletbook as dff . Ive read the following steps in another forum ,and am stuck at 3rd step,as dsdmerge wont merge all the tracks ,and often none ,i paste a quotation

No, what I said is that Oppo will offer firmware so your native DSF files will be able to be played natively via USB (not converted to PCM...that doesn't require a firmware update, and is not what this thread is about anyway!) so there would be no reason to re-author them onto a disc! The oppo will become a DSD-capable USB DAC. For example, I play custom DSD playlists all the time (with either of my DSD-capable DACs and J River).

When it was last available for sale (when Philips liquidated its SACD inventory) it was sold to mastering studios who authored SACD discs as part of a hardware/software package. There's no way to buy it today, but even if there was I doubt you'd want to spend the $25,000 the package sold for in 2007.

The real reason is as you suggested more a less Ie playlists . I simply wish to play actual sacd/dsd audio ,but not all tracks from individual discs . Ie disc A i like tracks 1,4,7 ,and from disc B i like tracks 9,11 , etc...so from many sacds i wish to authour only those select tracks to a disc i make an sacd/iso to play in my Oppo 105 ,as until you Ted ,informed me Oppo 105 will become fully capable . So you saved me 25k LOL , as if i would or more so could afford that .
