Drawn to the tonal range and delicate strength of platinum/palladium prints, Kerik Kouklis has specialized in this medium since 1995. He has since perfected and added to his technique evolving his entire craft into an exploration of the capabilities of this classic medium.
Although many photographers experiment with the platinum process, few have explored the medium as extensively as Lois Conner, Scott Davis, Kenro Izu and Andrea Modica. Each of these four photographers have produced extensive bodies of work in platinum, exploiting the particular characteristics of the materials to produce innovative and compelling prints.

Internationally Acclaimed Japanese Graphic Artist
Displayed in the gallery opposite the American rock posters, two recently acquired silkscreens from the 1960s by Japanese cult figure Tadanori Yokoo embody a radical departure from the prevailing Japanese modernist style. Appropriating images from classic Japanese wood-block prints, Yokoo juxtaposed them with Far-Eastern, Christian, modernist, and popular iconography to produce a striking montage of influence. In his well-known work A La Maison de M. Civeçawa, 1965, bold collages of cutout figures from both Eastern and Western popular culture float on a vivid red-and-white striped rising-sun background, which has become his signature leitmotif. Dubbed the Andy Warhol of Japan by the West, Yokoo has been recognized in hundreds of formal museum exhibitions and is in the permanent collections of more than eighty museums worldwide.
By dressing and posing his friends and family members in vintage circus costumes, González Palma signals that he is creating characters, not portraying likenesses. The woman in profile in the crown of flowers and harlequin outfit seems to vacillate between saintliness and ecstasy. The figure in the tutu exudes detachment, despite standing in the spotlight. The soft, moody quality of the platinum printing process aptly communicates the interior states the artist aims to portray.
