Treasury’s Office of Tax Analysis (OTA) seeks to hire an economist with a strong interest in applied research and advanced programming skills to serve as a financial economist in OTA’s Economic Modeling and Computer Applications division (EMCA). EMCA economists perform a wide range of micro-simulation modeling, econometric modeling, and statistical analysis. EMCA economists develop models for the quantitative analysis of Federal tax policy, including models related to health care, tax reform, and income distribution. They work closely with other financial economists within OTA to produce official revenue estimates, analyze tax-related bills and proposals, develop new policies, and conduct economic research on matters related to taxation and the economy. Topics include savings and retirement, health, education, housing, financial institutions, labor, the environment, and international trade. Staff members are encouraged to publish their research in professional journals. A PhD or equivalent experience in economics, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines, strong research and programming skills, and U.S. citizenship are required. Additionally, applicants are encouraged to send to OTA-position <OTA-po...@treasury.gov>: cover letter, resume, sample of professional writing, two letters of reference. Please feel free to forward to interested students.
