Firststep... updating your Origin client...to the latest Beta version /top left Origin menu, Application Settings - General..
The second step... restart Origin and make sure you are the administrator, run the setup file Origin with Admin rights, click HERE to fiind how.
The log file will show you at what point it is failing the install. For me, it was because of an old install which left files in the user Documents folder. ("\Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data")
Hi,
I recently had this issue with the EA App, after checking the install log(found in the install location), it was due to a folder which had only read permissions in my Documents.
"Command and Conquer Generals Data".
It was probably left over from a previous installation and somehow, this folder had only read permissions.
To solve the issue I went into the Folder Security Options, and gave myself full control to delete the file.
After I was able to restarted my installtion with success.
Regards
I have a Windows 10 device that has the " Failed to install ntp64: general error" All other threads, seem to reference that this is only for Win 7 devices. How can I fix this error so this EDR agent can get the latest updates?
Do you have the install log for Sophos Network Threat Protection from \windows\temp\ if AutoUpdate is installing it. It will be under %temp% if it's failing as part of the initial install if "you" are running the installer rather than System in the case where AutoUpdate runs the installer.
As I understand it, the file hmpalert.exe contains all the files required of the update. They are moved to an staging folder and pending rename operations are configured in the Windows Session Manager's PendingFileRenameOperations key (
technet.microsoft.com/.../cc960241.aspx) to switch the files on the next restart.
I'd love to know how to respond to the exit code request, but sigh...I have no idea where to find or create an exit code for a specific .exe. Is the exit code created as part of the Process Monitor log?
Also note that if you are migrating from Enterprise Console to Central and have Exploit Prevention installed, you will get the 'Failed to install hmpa64: general error' message. To avoid this, re-protect the affected endpoints from the console WITHOUT exploit prevention, reboot then then do the migration. This fixed it for me.
"installation failed."
"There was a problem in the final stage of the installation. Try again"
that's what appears when I try to download Zero hour from EA Dekstop, I really don't know what to do, can anyone help me? I was able to download and play C&C 3 without any problem but no generals/zero hour
Yes it looks like StarJekker has isolated the issue and created a good workaround. I haven't tried to replicate the fault and use that method because my installation via the Origin client is working and recognized by the EA client now. I would if there was any debate about whether the fix works or not but I'm sure it does!
Generals and Zero Hour regularly crash when you attempt to Alt+Tab out of the game. Enabling Borderless Fullscreen using the following instructions will make the game more stable. Note: Playing in borderless fullscreen will disable cursor edge-scrolling.
You should now have Generals running with borderless fullscreen, which is incredibly smooth and compatible with Alt+Tabbing. Just make sure you launch the game from the Windowed shortcut on your desktop.
Note: If you have trouble connecting to other players online, launch GenPatcher and go to the Playing Online tab. Now activate Network optimizations to help connect with other players.
The reason anti-virus software may flag it is because GenPatcher applies fixes to your game's Windows registry entries, as well as moving and deleting files that could cause game instability. Therefore, to be on the safe side, the anti-virus software will block GenPatcher and prevent it from running. That's why it's recommended to switch off your anti-virus before downloading GenPatcher to ensure you won't run into any problems.
If you run the game in regular fullscreen (not borderless fullscreen), the game will sometimes crash when you attempt to Alt+Tab out of it. The fix for this is to use d3d8to9-wrapper, which alleviates this issue by converting all Direct3D 8-API calls and low-level shaders to equivalent Direct3D 9 ones. Note: Do not use this if you would like to play online, as using the d3d8to9-wrapper will result in increased chances of a mismatch.
The easiest way to install mods for Zero Hour is through GenLauncher (official Discord). GenLauncher allows you to download and install multiple mods at the same time, while keeping your original Zero Hour game installation intact.
Are any of you using Pulseway to install applications not currently installed by third party management? I have applications that I need to install on my network that I would like to use Pulseway Automation for. I'm currently using PDQ Deploy but would like to get rid of it. Any suggestions on how to use Pulseway in this way? I attempted to work with support because I am getting a 1619 error... I tried everything I could find online to resolve this issue, but continued to get this error... I reached out to Pulseway Support, but they were less than helpful.
Would the best solution in the meantime be to upload the .exe installer to a web-hosted VM and deploy to each machine on Pulseway via an automated powershell script, referencing that hosted URL with proper tags?
The following link appears to offer viable advice for doing such a thing. Is this the best method we can hope for at current for .exe installers with Pulseway? Not an indictment, just a legitimate question from a sysadmin, simply trying to make sure I can keep people remotely employed and properly secured in the midst of this bonkers pandemic

Yes, if you must use an executable installer then the automation scripts are there for you. Just upload the file on one of your web servers so your systems can reach it (dropbox works too but make sure you copy the direct link to the file) and then write a script that does the following:
Here is an example of an install script that installs software that is downloaded from Dropbox. I obfuscated the Dropbox link. The script also depends on wget being installed, which I install on all agents using chocolatey.
Hey Paul, I'm fairly new to Pulseway and I'm trying to install some Tax Software to about 65 computers. The URL I have does not point to the software and I can't find one. I have the .exe downloaded is there any other way to deploy the software without an MSI through Pulseway? If I had and MSI I could easily do it through group policy (I know it's old school but sometimes old school just works).
In addition, please do not post any links to third-party sites hosting Paint.NET plugins. This means that if (1) you don't own the site and the plugin, or (2) it isn't a link to
forums.getpaint.net, don't post the link.
I think this is a good Idea, Rick may not, but in this section there should be a stickied or at least a thread for installing plugins, there are a bunch in general discussion, and it should be covered here, if the creator didn't give instructions.
Download the file, I personally save to desktop, then extract, move the extracted file to my desktop, then close the windows.
Go to My Computer, then find C Local Disk
Find Program files, and find Paint.NET, and find effects, place the .dll file in there, if it is a filetype, find filetypes in the paint.NET folder.
If you have
paint.net open while you install it, close it and open it again to access it.

I'm not saying that this is at all difficult for the end user, because it shouldn't be, but maybe some of the confusion lies in the fact that the folder in which the "Plugins" go is called "Effects". To make this as simple as possible, for those people who are just that, you could rename the "Effects" folder to "Plugins" in future PdN versions.
I am interested in making some figures in R, and I am trying to download the "gglot2" package for the first time. I haven't been able to install it, and I just updated my R to the latest version (1.2.5033).
Note that the version number you gave (1.2.5...) relates to your version of RStudio. Your version of R is probably R-3.6.2 or R-3.6.3. But the version number of R is probably not important in this case.
On macOS, packages sometimes fail to install, often with a non-zero exit status message. This is due to Apple's idiosyncratic compiler. The same packages will install on most Linux systems without trouble. Saint Simon Urbanek of the R Core Development Team takes on the brain damage required to recode the source to get around macOS's peculiar worldview for those in CRAN, but he can't bestow the same mercy on those still in development.
When installing if you are offered the option to install from source, it makes sense to try it once. But, if at first it doesn't succeed, in all likelihood it never will. It's usually only 7-10 days until a macOS binary is available
Oh wow, thanks for the information! So if I select "no" when it asks if I want to install from source, is there any chance that there will be adverse effects on that specific program? Like if I want to do a specific statistical test that needs a certain package, is there any chance that I could get the wrong results just because I installed from source code?
