since today I have an issue with my Ubuntu Online Account Settings. I started Empathy to log into my messengers, but I got an error that Facebook, Google and MSN need an authentication. I tried to delete all of them, but only MSN I was able to delete. Facebook and Google account do nothing. Doesnt matter account is ON/OFF. Is there a way by delete a config file and reset Ubuntu Online Accounts in this way?
I had this problem too . It seemed to occur after an upgrade, I could add new accounts, and disable old ones, but unable to remove old accounts using the proper windows. I eventually found that account information appeared to be stored in the directory
There where 3 files in there accounts.* ; I removed them all and rebooted the computer, and found all the online accounts where gone, I then re-created the new accounts manually as needed.
I don't know much about the online accounts and mine get deleted correctly. Try updating your system and trying again, otherwise you can try and find the files. Apologies for not being able to answer your question directly.
I tried talking with customer service at PayPal, and they would not help. They blamed FaceBook! I am getting PayPal purchases notices through messenger for my HUSBAND's Paypal (not my Paypal). No, we don't have the same email, and we don't use the same user name. It is very frustrating NOT to get notified for my account and my purchase but always see his... Can someone help disconnect our accounts and help me with NOT getting PayPal notices through FaceBook Messenger for his Paypal?
You are sending me the receipt from an old account that is no longer linked to mine, and you're not sending me receipts from my account you need to unlink because it's sending PayPal receipt to my Messenger account
Hi. Thank you for reaching out to PayPal. My name is Carlo. Please give me a few minutes to quickly go through the conversation to understand your concern. Is removing your bank is what you mean? Let me send you on how to remove a bank from you PayPal account. how to remove a bank from your PayPal account:
Those messages were accurate. I can log into my husband PayPal account because we share this information with each other and those charges were posted on his account and should have never been sent to me via Facebook Messenger please transfer me to your manager because I don't think you understand how your system work
Hi. Let me check on that. Hi Sunny. Kindly login to the PayPal account that is linked to this email yahoo.com and changes it to the one that you are using and remove the old email. Money is sent through PayPal using your confirmed email address. You can change your email address but first, you'll need to add and confirm your new email address.
Sunny as much as I want to help you the only resolution to this is to contact facebook and tell them about this issue. You are right about PayPal is initiating it's because PayPal is the who process the transaction and the email which is linked to that transaction is also linked to facebook messenger. Sunny your need to contact facebook about this since someone is owning the old email address that is linked to your PayPal account. It looks like you stepped away from our conversation. That's ok! When you reply we'll connect your message to the next available Customer Support team member if the previous Team Member is not available.
I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience reaching out to our Customer Support for help. There are two ways that your PayPal account may be linked to Facebook, through a billing agreement, or through receipt notifications. You can unlink your account at any time by cancelling your billing agreement, or turning off your receipt notifications.
Hi John, I appreciate your trying to help. Since I do have my husband's login. I went and deactivated these features on his account since it is HIS account that seems to be improperly linked to my Facebook messenger... I will look at the other forum.
It seems like he won't be able to get any messages with Facebook because they will try and send them to me. I think the trouble began years ago when he and I tried to use ONE Paypal, and when I would call to handle things Paypal refused to talk to me even though it was My email, and My business, and My Facebook, and I was authorized a number of times, and now that the account was linked wrong it makes me think he may even have to close it and reopen it to get it to work correctly.
Sorry for the confusion there. Yes, you got it! If you're receiving your husband's PayPal receipts / notifications on your Facebook, the link that would need to be un-linked would be on his PayPal account under his login info. If your husband would like to have his receipts / notifications on his Facebook Messenger, he can follow these steps:
They problem is that whenever he trys to get it to work under his Paypal, it sends it to ME at my FaceBook. I think we need IT to un HOOK the incorrect FaceBook Profile because there is NOT a setting for stopping send my Paypal receipts to the wrong darn account! See what I mean?!
Unfortunately, the only solution was to turn messenger off ON TWO separate accounts which in my mind does not fix account mismatch. Because the minute we turn it on with his account, I start getting the messages again in mine. I believe that IT_TECH needs to manually disconnect the Facebook accounts in the software which is clearly something I can not do. He can not even re-establish the Messenger notifications with his own account! They still come to me if we turn Messenger back on is his account. BTW he has a personal PayPal and Mine is Business. (Not sure if that matters) but the settings to adjust each are different w/regards to Messenger. In my mind, completely stopping a feature, and not being able to use it, IS NOT a good solution.
This is not a blog post about travel, history, nature, or tea, although, as always, a lot of tea was consumed in the composition of it. Instead, I hope this serves as a cautionary tale about how to potentially avoid the mistakes that have seen me locked out of Facebook for over a month. While I am all in favour of digital detoxes, this is not exactly what I had in mind!
Second, they activated two-factor authentication. This is supposed to increase the security of a system because you need to enter a code in addition to your password. The problem occurs when, again, it points away from the account owner and to the hackers instead.
I am always sorry to hear about people experiencing Facebook hacking and I completely understand your frustration, but I do not have any additional information beyond what is published here.
When you go through the process of sending a photo of your ID to be verified and you receive the email from Facebook confirming your ID is accepted with a link to reset your password, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IN THE EMAIL!!!! Instead, follow the instructions further down in the email which says something along the lines of
All of the information I have about the Facebook two-factor authentication problem is listed in this blog post. I will no longer be responding to emails or messages regarding this issue since I cannot provide any further assistance.
I was just wondering if you ever got a reply from facebook/ managed to get back in? Like you, I have about a decade of photos on there, and also just feel really uncomfortable that a hacker still has access to my account!
Hi there! The same thing happened to me and I am STRUGGLING. I run multiple facebook accounts for my clients through my personal account and am at a complete loss. If you have found a solution, please do share!
Meta as claimed to be a company which deals with AI , sometimes acts very stupid. My facebook account got hacked and the hacker had set up a two factor authentication app. No matter what I do, I am asked for the two factor authentication code.
Hi Elaine,
Did you have any updated tips or info on how to get your account back the fastest based on this problem? Currently experiencing the same issue with them changing the Code generator app and me not being able to get the code. Trying to reach FB to get them to remove the 2FA req. but no luck yet.
Hey Elaine!
Same happened to me about 3 weeks ago! Even though I was able to send my ID and for Facebook to recognized it (also I was able to change the email as the hacker has changed to one of his own) FB did contact me via email, send me a code but this code never worked :(. I regained my password but as the 2F Authenticator was enable by the hacker, I guess they are still getting this second code that I need to log in into my account. I wonder if FB would ever respond my email (as they where the ones initiating the communication) on this email it said: If you have any questions please respond on this email..
Which is why a petition has been set up against Facebook highlighting these very issues, especially that we are being asked for highly confidential ID which could be used for anything, and we would be totally unaware!!
Trying to reply to ameron Martin. Where is the petition? Please send instructions so we can add our names. Thousands having the same problem due to flaws in their systems and Facebook ignoring us is kind of egregious. Thank you!
I have been off facebook since June 2022 and I finally changed the email and password to the account In July but now this 2FA is turned on I need it to be turned off so I can enter my new phone number!
Hi, which way did you submit your ID etc? As in, which form?
My account was hacked and 2-factor authentication was enabled so I cannot receive any codes to log into my account on any of my devices
They changed the email and phone number associated with my account, and enabled two factor authentication under their phone number.
I have been able to change the email back to mine, and have changed my password, but to fully access my account I need to enter a code from the Code Generator.
The only way to access this code is either from in the account already, or from a third party app- which they hooked up to their phone number.
