Friends.

That you one and all.

Having friends cannot be oversold.

Our Kevin had his heart catheterization. Scheduled for 9 a.m., it didn't happen until 4 p.m. Then iIt went as well as we could hope.

He does not need a stent. They saw no evidence of damage. They cannot explain why early tests showed questionable results, so they have put him on a couple precautionary medications for a year. They are releasing him from the hospital this evening.

Thanks to everyone who expressed care and concern. It was invaluable as we waited and wondered 1,000 miles from our son.

And, yes, I know that silence may simply mean you weren't at your computer last night or this morning -- none of us are wedded to these infernal machines.

Be well. All of you!

Duncan

Good news, Duncan. So glad things look much better than they probably looked several hours ago.

Now that we can breathe again. you know we couldn't escape ghastly thoughts of having lost our other son in 2009. This came as a complete bolt out of the blue that we couldn't have seen coming. It was only about 36 hours of fright -- but it was about 36 hours of fright. We still don't know what to make of doctors saying early tests showed his "heart enzymes weren't right." Now they say that doesn't make sense to them either. I know a lot of stuff, but I know nothing at all about heart enzymes. The mysteriousness of it makes it scarier.

Though I often fail, I will try to keep this short but it is a little more nice news (as Denny says “getting better”).

Like you all, I was deeply engaged by Kevin and Erica’s ordeal and my reaction was to send a floral arrangement to them in hospital “from Carolyn and Duncan’s National Park Ranger posse”. My order went in before all the wonderful results were known and I just wrote it off, almost forgot as the terrific story unfolded below.

This morning, Winnie at Bloom Florists tracked me down and related  that she and her colleagues had not been successful after trying two hospitals (Advent Health has more than one nearby facility) and I explained what still almost seems a miracle and that Kevin and Erica might already be back in New Mexico. I thought Winnie and I were done but she said “no”. Given the story, and to my great surprise, she volunteered and issued a full refund.

My continued best wishes to all the Morrows plus a comment. If you are ever near Orlando and need something extra to help lift your spirits, please consider our new friends at the Bloom flower shop. : - )
