Hi Matt,
As a newbie to this process I'm not quite sure how we would reserve a metered parking spot to be sure we get the one we want. Do you just set up shop the night before, plop down some cones, put up police tape, get there when it opens, what's the story?
Thanks.
LS.

Hi LS, We scouted where we wanted to be, on Valencia, the week before
to see what turnover would be like at that time of the am. We were a
bit flexible and would have been happy with a site in about half of
the block on one side of the street. We just showed up and didn't
have to wait at all for an acceptable spot to open up.

Some people saved spots with cars and moved them when the set up crew
arrived - it depends on where you want to set up and how busy it is,
and how much turnover.

Thanks Cheryl,

Yes, I agree - I think where you are hoping to set up a park sets the tone for how much advance work you need to secure a spot.

I'm happy to offer more specific advice to your situation.

Best,
Matt

We're looking at Howard St. between 2nd and 3rd, or 2nd Street between
Howard and Montgomery - need to do more scoping before we settle on
one.

Any idea how the San Francisco Parking and Traffic will be dealing
wiht Park(ing) groups? Should we be prepared to move every two hours,
or will they be cool?

Hi All-
Any Bay Area folks know where I could "borrow" some strips of grass for Parking Day?
I feel like there were garden shops last year that were willing to lend out live turf for the day? Am I mis-remembering? Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks,

folks were lending out trees but not sod. The sod pretty much dies after a day in a parking spot. Try east bay nursery - they gave some discounts last year. K

we looked into ordering sod from home depot Colma and learned there is
$55 delivery charge plus a minimum of 250 sq/ft. each 7' long roll
cost $2.70. Any other group interested in sharing a delivery of sod?
We'll be located in front of city hall.

Hi there-
I just spoke with Lowes in South San Francisco and they said that they're selling sod for $3.38 per 10 square feet.
We were planning on taking a van down to pick it up on Friday morning. The guy I spoke with said it usually comes in around 7 am.
Do you want to come with and get some sod for your space?

Hi Matthew,

Wanted to add Zipcar's park on the map, am I totally late? Sorry,
just found out about this group. We are actually doing a park just
outside the Montgomery BART station (not quite at metered spots) on
the sidewalk at the Market/Montgomery/Post corner. It's just the
Zipcar PARK(ing) Day. No specific link for the event, but www.zipcar.com
if you need a link.

Thanks!
Fiona

Hi All,

I’m going to be at Home Depot in Emeryville at 6 AM to pick up my sod. I have a 4-runner, which I’m going to put a tarp in the back of; I think I will likely have room for one other person’s sod. So, if you have a downtown SF Park(ing) Day spot and would like to get in on my sod/truck action, I’d be happy to load/unload/haul yours if you can help me do the same. :)

We hope to snag a space on 2nd Street at Mission, in front of the
public space atrium at 101 2nd Street. Otherwise we'll be somewhere on
2nd between Mission and Howard, hopefully on the east side.
