Hello Sean,
Try as I have to get Bill Douglas, the founder of World Tai Chi Day to officially add a second day he is still resistant and fails to see the possibilities by holding it.
Turning this into a weekend event it seems like such a no brainier to do. I have met so many people of other faiths that love and practice Tai Chi and have a religious objection to Saturday. As one that observers Sunday as my Sabbath with conviction, I understand why a second day is such an easy and uncomplicated way to solve this situation and add to the power of the event by working and listening to others.
A Buddhist friend of mine was all for starting this and some Jewish friends were not far in behind with lending their support. So we are slowly starting to make a small statement that this World Tai Chi Day needs some yin to balance out the yang!
I hope that we can call join together at Sunday 10 AM April 27 for a mass movement each person or school there doing a form for 5 min out at the Tai Chi Players location of Pease Park with the park players.
John Wang and I use to hold Kung Fu group classes there back in the late 70's, i moved out to Bull Creek Park in the 80's and have fond memories of those areas.
In Spirit,
Dave Pickens

I am enclosing a flyer for a movement some of us are forming this year in Austin. I hope you will explore the idea helping to spread this to communities around you.
World Tai Chi Weekend was born because of hearing repeatedly that while a person was a Tai Chi player or student they could not come to a Saturday event because it conflicted with their religious commitments to their Sabbath. By putting myself in their shoes should the date be on a Sunday... I thought we should put the yin with the yang and have a second wave that hopefully one day will reach past ethic make up, religious beliefs, stylist differences, and applied principles to unite what brings us together.
Given the state of the world today with state supported terrorism, religious persecutions, and a polished up smile that hides the sorrow and disappointment for many, I felt this single act of showing compassion to others may be a start. By showing all of us that hold our treasure for relaxation, exercise, health remedies, over all wellness and self protection that Tai Chi leans to us all.
I am no rebel just a person looking to bring a smile and a bit of peace into everyones life.
Dave
