Dear Sir

On my visit to Gwalior from the 18th of August till 21st of August, 2011, it came to my notice that the Government of Madhya Pradesh gives a sum of Rs. 40,000 to persons with disabilities on their marriage. I wanted to know which other state governments give such incentives.

Also, I wanted to suggest that this scheme is not appropriate and other things like employment should be added in the scheme instead of marriage so that they can stand on their own feet and enable them to a life of independence and dignity. I also came to know that on 22 December, 2008 Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Labour & Employment came out with such a scheme and many persons with disabilities were benefited from it.

On 3 February, 2009 I wrote a letter to P. Chidambaram and I want to thank him for proceeding my file. I also received a reply. The details are as follows :

F. No. z - 20025/1/2009 - Adm IIF from Government of India
M/O Labour & Employment

They have written a letter the Section Officer (DD III), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi.

But sadly no action has been taken till now. I also have the bio-data of all the members of my organisation. They have all asked me what is the use of getting educated when we are not provided with any jobs. What should I reply to my members?

As you know, even I'm a disabled person and being one I am able to understand their problems very well.

I am also enclosing the copy of the received letter.

Thanking you.

Yours sincerely
