Dear friends,

The Supreme Court of India, in the writ petition 196/2001, has directed all state governments and union territories to establish permanent homeless shelters in the ratio of at least one per one lakh urban population in each city, and to include in these numbers sufficient shelters for most vulnerable populations among homeless people, like single women and the aged and infirm.

In order to accomplish this task, Dil Se along with other partner NGO's has decided to submit an action plan for the homeless in Delhi to the Delhi Government. This primarily involves 4 main tasks:

1.   Identification of homeless concentration

2.   Mapping profile of the homeless population

3.   Recommending types as well as location of shelters across Delhi

4.   Recommending facilities to be made part of the different types of shelters to increase usage

In order to accomplish the above, we are planning to conduct a Rapid survey across Delhi covering all major concentrations of homeless populations and conduct focus group as well as one on one questionnaire based guided discussions to capture relevant data. For this we are looking for highly motivated volunteers to accompany our team leads and field workers and help conduct this survey. Kindly confirm your participation by 24th April. The details are as below:

Dates: 25th April to 7th May (except Sundays)

Time: 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Facilities:

·   Dinner will be provided during the survey.

·   Home Pick-up and Drop will also be provided

Hoping for your participation in a great learning exercise which will impact lives of lakhs of homeless in Delhi!

Please feel free to call on mentioned number for any clarity.

Team - Dil Se
