Hi Jim,

I came into FTA a couple of months ago because the clasp on my 1980's Submariner had begun to fall apart.  You said it was 'classic' degradation -- one of the two snap-tips had broken off completely.

You recommended I search ebay for a new band, one which matches the 93150 (printed on the band) and the 580 endlinks (printed on the watch body).  It turns out to be much easier to simply find the 93150 clasp itself for sale, rather than the whole wristband.

I have two questions:

1. Is it viable to buy the 93150 clasp only, and have you replace only that part of the band?

2. The ebay prices -- for the clasp only -- tend to hover around $350.  Is that a reasonable price?

Sorry, I do not know how gmail managed to add parc...@googlegroups.com to the 'To:' line.  Now you can all see the exciting history of my 30-year-old wristwatch repair.  :-)

This is a Rolex I inherited from my deceased father, probably my only heirloom (and only piece of jewelry).  Since it has real emotional value, I wear it everyday -- and a result it's a bit pricey to keep it working condition over the span of years.  $350 for a clasp seems insane, no?  But then again, entire watches are an order of magnitude more expensive.  Crazy.

And it doesn't even run Zork.
