Our Most Revered Gurudev often used to remind us to remember the pithy sayings of Vitrasura to Devaraj Indra. The first pithy saying of Vitrasura is, 'Sri Krishna does not bestow worldly property or any wealth of the three worlds to those who have got one-pointed causeless devotion to Him and whom Sri Krishna thinks His own dear and favorite. Because worldly wealth causes malice, anxiety, mental anguish, vanity, quarrel, indulgence in vices. Moreover severe tension is involved in acquiring it and preserving the acquired.' We should also remember that Vitrasura said to Devaraj Indra that even if a sincere devotee, out of ignorance, wants those worldly things, the Supreme Lord puts obstacles to it. That hindrance is the actual grace of God. It is better we should go through all the pithy sayings of Vitrasura again and again.
