Supreme Lord Sree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Most Munificent Form of Godhead, out of unfathomable Compassion to rescue the fallen souls, still continues to stay in this world, as Lord's Grace Incarnate - Pure Devotee - the only resort of the helpless. It is the scriptural prescript to perform puja on the Advent Anniversary of Srila Gurudev or prominent Superior Vaishnavas. The significance of Gurupuja is not simply an external ritualistic performance of offering floral tributes. Actual Gurupuja or Vaishnava-puja is to fulfill their hearts' desire. We daily recite in our prayer to Gurudeva that He is One with Sree Hari in the sense that He is the dearest of Supreme Lord Sree Hari.
Bona fide submission to Gurudev is essential for Guru-puja, for which sixfold Saranagati is to be practised. We are to accept commandments which are congenial for worship and to give up probations uncongenial. We should not wound the hearts of Guru and Vaishnavas for transitory mundane interests, which will be anti-devotional.
In His dialogue with Rai Ramananda, elucidating gradual development of Theism, Sree Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has indicated Karma, Karma-arpana, Karma-tyaga, and Jnana-misra Bhakti - all external. He accepts 'Jnana-shunya Bhakti,' from which Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's teaching starts, and in which emphasis has been given to bona-fide submission to sadhus, worship of Lord regulated by the divine teachings of sadhus relinquishing all inductive methods. Submission to pure devotee is actual submission to Lord.

O my beloved friend! Listen to me most attentively - service of the lotus feet of revered Vaishnavas is the only real fortune in this world. Supreme Lord Sree Krishna never forsakes a servitor who worships Him, taking absolute shelter of a Suddha Bhakta. Life of all others, who neglect this, is futile.
