EC2000 Claims vs Third Party solution

Our finance and billing team completed build training for EC2000 and
are disappointed in several things about the EC2000 claims solution.
Our CFO is advocating for selecting a third party claims solution
(Rycan). Have you been successful in using EC2000 or an alternate
claims solution with your Paragon implementation?

Issues expressed are:
- EC2000 is not integrated with Paragon. Requires downloads when
changes are made to tables in Paragon. Examples are caregivers,
patient types, insurance plans.
- Medicare second billing is not automated. McKesson states there is
another product of theirs that does this function. I do not have
details on this yet.
- Shadow billing process does not appear to be automatic in EC2000.
- General impression from the build team is they are required to do
ongoing build maintenance on EC2000. Their impression is third party
solutions do this maintenance for them.

Jeff,

We transitioned to ePREMIS using Relay Health as our clearinghouse and
stopped using EC2000. Reporting features are much better too.

During the 'buy cycle' back in 2009, the Paragon sales team actually
signed us up for EC2000 even though we were a current ePremis client.
We identified that ePremis was a superior product and even got un-
named folks at Mckesson to say that ePremis was the go forward
product. Thankfully we stayed with ePremis and it works very well for
us in the Paragon environment just as it did in our old Series
world. It, like EC2000, is not integrated with Paragon but the
ePremis team does a great job of supporting our billing team.
