Reminder:
From this coming weekend there will no longer be a weather sms unless you
have subscribed to the new fee system, or you work for me, or you are a current
student.
Read the info below, please.
The sms service has worked as a good
latest-info forecast, often telling us of the good days in store. It is
a very good warning system especially for unexpected stronger winds at
higher levels. As the forecasters at the Met office at Oliver Tambo airport is
my biggest cohorts, I can only thank them for their patience with all the
questions I ask and the number of times I call them to update on real-time info!
I rely on their forecast and information to a large extent.
:-)
Many of you wait for the sms to make the fly or
not-fly decision for the day.
The good news is that the sms is still going to be
around and will be sent out as always on weekends, except of course when we go
away for weekends.
The bad news is that I will have to start charging
for it.
The cost for the weather sms is R70 for one
calendar year.
This is going to be applicable with immediate
effect as from 2 November 2009.
Everybody will have to pay for the sms
except my workers and my current students.
But with the bad there is also good.
For those who prefer not to pay for the SMS, there
is another option. They can look on the new weather page on my website to
get the same info, if they are interested in knowing what is happening at
Johannesburg/Dunnottar area and whether we are planning on going to the field.
The website is being updated at present, and the
new pages will be available soon - some from later today, others from next week,
and so on. Look at www.funwings.com.
How to pay for the sms
To continue to receive the sms, please deposit R70
into the bank with your name as reference. Please send proof of payment. Your
sms weather service will then be continued. :-)
