Info on Continental
records received.
Only pilots living on a continent can claim a
continental record. No European or American or anyone else can grab a
continental record on another continent. Therefore, only pilots living in Africa can set an African Continental
record.
However, the normal record setting criteria apply.
The flight has to comply with the requirements set by FAI for it to be
recognised as a Continental Record, and it still has to be declared an
official National Record before it can be a Continental Record.
For paraglider pilots, Nevill Hulett's distance
record will have to be beaten (it is also our official National Record).
But there are other records up for grabs. And only
inhabitants of Africa can claim them. :-)
More info will be available on the FAI and CIVL
websites soon.
