Hi
All that is great to know about your comments on Baber’s turbulent
flight, which has triggered a fruitful discussion for enthusiastic
learners. This discussion has provided us an opportunity to know more
about the mishap that we can come across any time during our flights.

We are thankful to our foreign friends, for their being so sincere
with us. We are proud to have contacts with a cadre of sincere friends
around us like Mr Mukrim and Christian Rankl and others. Thanks to
both of them for their concerns about the Paragliders of Booni,
Chitral.

Here it should be clear to all of our friends that we are learned and
responsible ones and try to improve our skills slowly and gradually.

Though none of us have had any formal training, yet we have learned
paragliding through our own efforts and have been participating in a
number of local and national events. In the year 2010 Mr.Mukrim
visited chitral and in the course of his stay with us we learned a lot
about various techniques of flying. He also taught us the very
convenient and superior skill of ground handling. Ever since we feel
ourselves to be at comparatively ease while taking off from any
difficult point. Apart from that he informed us about many other
important things during flights.

Paragliders of Booni are thankful to Mr. Rankl for his full support.
He knows well about our perception. During his stay at Booni he had
also given time to teach us how to control the wing and what to do in
the strong wind conditions. It would not be an exaggeration to say
that his linkage with Booni Paragliders has made paragliding possible
for us. We well come to both of them and other friends to Booni, in
the future.

Booni Paragliders have established Terichmir paragliding Club (TPC)
and held paragliding show in different villages of Chitral. In October
2011 we took off from the top of the mountain above Parkusap village
and landed in the Mastuj village, which was a new experience for our
emerging Paragliders. This year in August our flights from Zani Pass
with Korean Paragliders enhanced our confidence.

To promote paragliding in this part of the country, we would like to
have strong linkages with Pakistan Association of Free Flying
(PAFF).We are hopeful that PAFF would provide full support to the
Paragliders of TPC.We need the proper equipments and gadgets for
longer and higher flights.

Terichmir Paragliding Club will facilitate the visits of the foreign
Paragliders and provide space for accommodation for them. The website
of TPC will be launched soon via that you can be in contact with us
for further information on paragliding in the Hindukush Mountains.
Thanks

Hello Muzafar and Baber,
It is good to hear you attitude about safety and the interest you are taking to learn from this recent experience of Baber. Your comments show some maturity that was absent on my last visit. It sounds like your attitude has changed moving in the right direction by giving our sport the respect it deserves. I appreciate that and I believe your familys do also.

I really appreciate the effort that other pilots have taken to pass on their experience to the pilots of pakistan, be that in Islamabad, Chitral or Booni. And be it in person or in recent posts here, emails, phone calls ect. I think we all know that a lot can be learned when we are not actually flying that makes us safer pilots.

The way that you can show your gratitude and and respect is by making safe decisions about not only how to fly but WHEN to fly. The fact that Baber went out to go groundhandle and got sucked up shows a shocking lack of respect for the conditions you fly in and almost no knowledge of local weather.

I too have flown when I shouldn't have, either by being too emotional or by not correctly reading the weather so I am not talk from a place of judgment and condemation. We have all made mistakes and gotten lucky, but there is no need to continue in that style or approach to aviation.

Good luck with your group and continued safe learning process, I look forward to flying with local pilots in Pakistan when I return.

Happy Eid,
Brad

Hi Brad
Thanks for your comments. We had to make you feel comfortable about
us. Actually we had realized in the begin that paragliding is not like
other sports, one can just start playing. It is a sport, where life
risk is involved. We get these issues seriously. The same time we read
the information about paragliding and do enough practice. The videos
are available on the internet. We can improve ourselves, and can
further take guidance from anywhere, but all these are useless if we
don’t care about ourselves.
We know about the weather condition and never feel any thing easy about flying.
There seems a bit change in the weather this year since from the early
days of the autumn. It had been raining, and some times cloudy in the
day time. The boys had not been to do ground practice for quite long
time. I had not recommended any flight from even nearby hills. Any way
Baber being a normal pilot should have realized the situation.
May be it happened to provide us a good lesson to learn.
We hope that we will always keep in mind safety first.
Thanks
Muzafar
