Fellow Volunteers,

The Paradox is in danger of being shut down! The people in charge of
the venue, Mars Hill Church, are deciding whether to keep us running.
One of the main reasons they are considering closing us down is that
they feel like there are plenty of all ages clubs now and that people
do not care very much about volunteering or coming to shows at The
Paradox anymore with so many other options. I feel that we have
something very special to offer the music community and the kids in our
city that you can't find at other venues.

The Paradox has always been a unique and fun place to see good music. I
know that many kids I have talked to say that The Paradox feels much
more accessible and inviting than other venues in town. I do not feel
that even with the increased ability for underage kids to see live
music in this area that two all ages venues can meet Seattle's needs.
It is important to try and keep The Paradox going so that we can
continue to offer great live music experiences to everyone.

I want to make sure everyone feels like they are a part of programming.
If Mars Hill decides to keep The Paradox going I hope to put together a
large staff and staff run committees that will be involved in every
aspect of running the venue. I want us to all work together to promote
a sense of community and make a difference in the Seattle music scene.
This will be a great opportunity for anyone hoping to become more
educated in how the music industry works. I want to keep having
regular sound and lighting classes and maybe even a silkscreen
workshop. Together we can come up with new ways to educate kids about
music and work together as a team for a great cause.

I know that you guys would not be on this volunteer list if you did not
agree that The Paradox is a venue worth being a part of. The best way
to show Mars Hill that they should continue letting us put on amazing
shows is to write letters to them. I need all of you to send letters of
support to my personal email address, reb...@theparadox.org. They do
not have to be long and professional looking at all. Just tell them how
you feel about The Paradox, why you are involved and reasons that they
should keep the venue running. All they need to see is that there are a
number of people in this community that love The Paradox, whether you
just like going to our shows or volunteer regularly.

I would like to say thanks to all the kids who have already sent me
letters. It is very encouraging to read them and I know they are going
to help the people at Mars Hill see that The Paradox is worth
maintaining. Make sure your letter states who you are as I will be
compiling them onto one file to send to Lief Moi. It would also help to
put your letter on your email to me as an attachment. I appreciate all
of your help in the past, you guys have been the best and putting on
shows would not be possible without you. Now is your chance to do
something very important for The Paradox! I look forward to receiving
your letters.

Sincerely,
