Heading into the hospital lobby, the grav cart floating ahead of him, he
looked around for somebody in medical blue...
Jason was just walking through the lobby but stopped suddenly, almost
tripping over himself as he looked over Jackson with unconscious Kylee. He
turned and head toward them, "What happened?" he asked Jackson as he took
out his tricorder. He was already sure that Kylee wasn't just taking a nap.
Kylee groaned softly as she laid on the bunk bed, still in her envirosuit
from the trip out to Dome 2. Overall, nothing looked wrong with her, other
than seeming a bit green from her earlier nausea.
The groan brought Jackson's eyes to Kylee, then he looked at Jason. "I don't
know. She's had headaches for at least the last two weeks, but today on a
mission outside the dome, it really seemed to get the better of her. She
became very weak, needed support to get back to the vehicle, then when we
got there, she was quite ill, and passed out."
Jason frowned a bit as he scanned Kylee with his tricorder, "I'm not really
detecting anything... I will have to do more scans, let's get her out of the
suit and onto a biobed," he told Jackson before heading for a clear
examination room.
Kylee slowly opened her eyes, her hand reaching up to her head. "You touch
me and you'll be coming away with some broken digits," she murmured, her
other arm beginning to push her up to sit. "Just a bit of a headache,
nothing to worry about.."
"It was just a headache till you got sick and passed out. On a mission.
Don't be ridiculous." Jackson reached down and started unstrapping her from
the grav cart. "Now get out of that envirosuit, and let this man do his job,
so we can get back to doing ours."
"I will decide if it is nothing to worry about Lieutenant," Jason told
Kylee. At his point he wasn't sure she could break a twig that was already
half way cut through let alone his fingers. At least she was awake and that
was better he thought.
"It's just a headache.. and I'm blaming a bad envirosuit for the pass out,"
Kylee said, rolling off the bed as he unstrapped her. Swaying slightly, she
pushed herself up slowly, nearly falling back to the floor. "Can get back to
my job now.."
Jason grabbed Kylee when he thought she was going to fall, "Lieutenant, get
on the biobed now. You're not going back to duty in this condition, I can
promise you that." He tried to guide her over to the biobed.
Jackson moved to help, as well, though he was careful to let the doctor take
the lead. "A word of caution, Doctor. The lieutenant is a formidable soul.
Even when she's sick. Maybe even more so, even."
Kylee grunted as they grabbed her, struggling weakly as they half guided,
half dragged her towards the biobed. "I'll eventually get better, Jackson,"
she pointed out, a hint of a warning in her tone, her feet pressing down
against the floor to try and slow them.
Jason took a deep breath, "Listen to me Lieutenant, very carefully...
get out of the suit and onto the bed or I will see you relieved of duty
until it is 'eventually' determined that you have gotten better,"
he told her, by the way that he said eventually he made it sound like it
would be a long time.
"Do as the man says, Kylee. Please." Jackson foresaw traction, in his near
future, but until then, his friend needed to be helped. Suiting actions to
thoughts, he undid the seals of her suit, unzipping it to reveal the clothes
beneath. "Now unless you are too sick to finish getting this thing off, get
it done, alright?"
Kylee narrowed her eyes as she looked at the two. "I see sparring in your
future, Jackson," she said, awkwardly climbing out of the envirosuit,
wearing a tanktop and part of pants beneath, forgoing her usual uniform top
so she didn't overheat. Kicking the suit away, she climbed on to the bed,
sitting on the edge. "There.. good enough for you?"
"Lay down please," Jason told her as he moved closer to her. He felt sorry
for Jackson, thinking that the guy was going to be very sore after a
sparring match with Kylee
Shaking his head, Jackson took and started getting the empty suit situated.
"I'll be available for sparring, after you feel better. Till then, let the
doctors do their work. It's a lot easier to do science without your brain
trying to run ut your ears. Or whatever is wrong with your upper back
bothering you."
Kylee grunted and laid back, her eyes staring up at the ceiling.
"There.. laid down.. can we get this over with quickly?" she asked, her head
turning to look at Jackson. "Mouth.. running too much..
enough already with trying to help.."
"I don't see anything physically wrong..." Jason said. Taps a button the
monitor, "Though there is some unusual brain activity, that I would like to
keep an eye on, just over night. Could ask Doctor Wilkinson or Doctor Blake
for a second opinion."
"Fine. I'll shut up. But you need to be honest with the doctors, and with
yourself." Rolling up the envirosuit under his arm, Jackson moved over and
took a seat out of the way.
Kylee heard the magic word and sat up quickly, grabbing her head as she
groaned. "Right.. not staying overnight. Have too much work to do," she
said. "Don't need a second opinion.. the marks on my back are from the other
Kylee. My headache is just from lack of sleep and being stuck in this stale
air of the dome. I'll be just fine when I can work with the plants on their
way here."
"Lack of sleep? Hmm well thank you Lieutenant for filling me in on that
little bit.. and you can't even sit up. Well I was trying to be nice, but
now you are staying here and you are going to get a second opinion. And
above all that you are not going back to duty just yet."
Jason said with a smile.
Jackson said nothing, content now to sit back and let the doctor handle
things. He pulled out his PADD, and started working on a detailed written
report of the mission.
"Everyone is dealing with lack of sleep. Been that way since we got here,"
Kylee responded, pushing herself up to sit on the bed. "Look..
see.. can sit up and everything. I don't need a second opinion. Just need
some sleep and I'll get that.. once the biological lab is complete," she
said, glancing to Jackson, giving him looks of death for bringing her here.
Jason sighed and rubbed his forehead with his hand, "No, you will get sleep
first... Doctor's orders. And I will be checking up on you." he told her.
Jackson already knew he was in for trouble when Nix was free to deal
with him. He met her looks of death with a small, semi-apologetic
shrug. She needed to be here, and she was here, and under care. The
rest could sort itself, later.
"If you're going to tell me that.. then you need to tell everyone that walks
in here they need.." Kylee stopped, letting out a hiss and grabbing her head
as the pain spiked, a flash of memories that were not her own moving through
her head. "Damnit.. get out of my head,"
she growled.
Jason tapped his commbadge, "Doctor Asburn to Doctor Blake, could you please
come to Examine room 3 I need your help with a patient." He was struggling
not to just grab a hypospray and knocking Kylee out for a bit.
“On my way, Doctor Asburn.” Cait replied over coms and true to her word,
soon arrived. She looked over noting who the patient was and mentally
groaned. “Doctor, fill me in.”
Jason fills Cait on the situation, about Kylee arriving knocked out, about
not finding anything physically wrong with the patient but that she had
unusual brain activity. "She hasn't been getting much sleep and now... well
as you can..." he added as he looked back at Kylee, still thinking a
hypospray might be the best course of action right now.
Kylee groaned and leaned back on the bed, her hands holding her head.
"Great.. just who I want to see.." she muttered to herself as Cait
approached, plotting how much she was going to make Jackson pay for bringing
her here. "Already said once that no one gets much sleep around here, or are
you deaf?" she asked.
The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a butter knife.
From what she was picking up from her colleague, Kylee must have been give
him some major lip. She could quite understand the sentiment.
“Lieutenant Nix, You will watch your tone of voice with me and my staff or I
will kick your ass from here to the XO’s office. Am I understood?.
"Only tone I am giving is one saying that I am not needing to stay here,
Doctor," Kylee said, a hint of anger in her eyes, mixing with the pain.
“Let me put this in terms you can understand. 1. You aren’t a doctor unless
you got a degree when I wasn’t looking. 2. This means you are not qualified
to assess your own needs in a medical sense and last but not least, I out
rank you and you ~will~ be staying until I determine when its safe to let
you leave.”Cait never once raised her voice.
It didn’t take but a minute to read his scans and do her own.
“Hmm…let’s do a full diagnostic scan. I’ve seen this kind of readings a time
or two before but I want to confirm with something more in depth. Lieutenant
Nix, you are relieved of duty until further notice.
Mister Jackson, get that suit to Commander Lox. I want it gone over with a
fine toothed comb just make sure it’s not having issues too.
Doctor Asburn, get your patient admitted.” The tone of authority in her
voice said she would brook no argument from anyone.
"All that is wrong is too much work, not enough sleep. I don't need a full
diagnostic scan, I don't need to be coddled. I just need to get a night of
sleep and then get back to work. Have too much going on to stay here.
Jackson knows I have important things to do.. need to talk with Cmdr Lox,"
Kylee said.
Jason nodded to Cait, and said, "Right away." He turned and headed out
of the room to get Kylee admitted. He made a mental know to keep a
hypospray in his pocket for the times he runs into her in the hospital
again.
“Not another word, Nix, and that’s an order.” Cait met the angry eyed
Klingon with a stubbornness honed from surviving situations that would have
killed many others.
"I sent a contact report in while you were napping in the snowcat,
Kylee. I'll go take care of reporting in detail, and get this suit
checked." He was quite capable of checking over the envirosuit
himself, but it wasn't worth making an issue over. "You take care of
yourself."
Kylee's jaw clenched as she stared at Cait, biting her tongue to stop
the myriad of responses that were flashing through her thoughts,
though her face likely gave away much of her emotions. She turned her
head to look at Jackson, taking a deep breath to calm herself. "Tell
Cmdr Lox I want to see him as soon as possible," she said
"I'll tell him." With that, Jackson let himself out, leaving Kylee
with those who could take care of her. Hopefully everyone would
survive the experience.
