Justin pondered on all that had happened in the past 2 days as he filled out his
incident report. The team he had put together had worked quite well, though
there had been one casualty. Ensign Fry was currently in sickbay for radiation
exposure.

"Computer, prepare report for Captain Dharmajiva. Title, Inter-Spacial Rift
closure."

"Begin summary." Justin stated.

"The Inter-Spacial rift was sealed, using a two step approach. First we set up
a hard radiation generator to cauterize the Rift, then we collapsed and sealed
the chamber just to be sure that any residual rift energy, or hard radiation was
contained. Using a derelict shuttle's energy core, we placed it just inside the
chamber, facing the rift during one of its more quite periods. Once that was in
place we set charges around the chamber to collapse it. We then had to wait for
another cycle from the Rift. This is where we ran into some trouble. Each of
the team members had a neural inhibiter but our close proximity made them less
than useful."

Justin reflected on the incident. "We should have anticipated this, though none
of us was expecting what actually happened. Ensign Fry was the worst affected
by this cycle. He actually switched with his other-self for a short time. This
worked in favor on one of our qualms about using the hard radiation. He was
able to warn those on the other side to get as far away from that chamber as
possible before we initiated the radiation wave. When the cycle ended he was
returned to his proper side, but in the interim, his other self had freaked out
at being in a hard radiation suit and had compromised it. This went undetected
until after we had powered up the radiation generator, and giving Ensign fry a
very high dose of hard radiation. "

"Once the generator was up to full power, the radiation wave was fired at the
rift. This actually opened the rift wider for a few minutes then it collapsed
back in on itself. Just as it sealed we detonated the charge on the shuttle
power generator to fully cauterize the rift. It also caused the walls of the
chamber to melt into a molten form. We then detonated our charges, causing the
chamber to collapse. Once the chamber had been destroyed and the area
stabilized from that collapse, we set of several more charges sealing the
tunnels leading to that location. At this point we realized that Ensign Fry's
radiation suit had been compromised and our 3 assigned medics took him
immediately to sickbay. Had we had transporter capabilities there, it would
have been an emergency transport."

"After returning to the Operations Center, and double checking to make sure each
of the rest of us has not been exposed to too much radiation, and after going
through proper decontamination, each of us reported to sickbay for a double
check. We were given a clean bill of health at that time, with an order to go
home and get a good night sleep. I will say this, it was a very nice order to
follow."

"This morning, each of us filed out individual reports, which are appended to
this summary. I'd like to recommend Ensign Fry for a special commendation, and
a purple heart for his part in this endeavor. According to his report, he
realized that his suit was compromised, but at that moment it was too late to do
anything about, he had already been exposed, but he stayed at his post and
finished the job."

"The entire team deserves a commendation as well. They put their lives at great
risk, even more than we expected, to get this job done, and done quickly."

"Computer, end report. Append each team member's report to this one and file
with Command." Justin stated.

Justin grabbed up a PADD and sat back, looking over the new project that was up
and coming. Grabbing a rather large object, and transporting it across an
entire sector of space via a geodesic fold.

"Computer, inform Ensign Maxwell Cunningham to report to me tomorrow at the
beginning of Alpha shift to discuss his request." Justin ordered the computer.
Since it wasn't something that needed immediate attention, they could talk about
it during normal operation shifts, and not need to drop everything right now to
discuss.

"Computer, Bring up the colony layout and show me the current list of repair
requests." Justin started on the next project, rebuilding the colony to
withstand further earthquakes and design for future expansion.

"Mark area 3 for demolition. Mark area 2 for immediate repairs and upgrades.
We will need to move everyone in area 3 to are 2 before demolition, then once
rebuilt move them back." This was not going to sit well with the local
civilians, but for their own safety it was going to have to be done. "Rebuild
plans for area 3 are to include a medical clinic, a school, a replicator area,
at least 2 open air parks, and housing for at least 50 families. Bring up
standard building plans for said structures and display on the main desk
console."

Justin walked out to the main Operations desk. "Display area 3 on the desktop,
with the standard building plans on the right side." Once the computer complies
he started one of Lox's recreational pastimes... something on old Earth called
"SimCity". It was a computer game where you built up your city and tried to
make it work and generate income. "Computer, add plans for a small shopping
area but leave the interior details to walls and minimal utilities." He moved
that into the plans. The locals could decide what they wanted in that area. He
hoped that at least one restaurant would go in there. People needed a place to
go to relax, and he found restaurants were a good way to do that.

Once he had the plans the way he wanted them, he looked over the resources
available for the project and sighed. "Computer, start diverting 1% of all
physical building resources to this project until such time as we are at 50%
needed to start construction." He hated to even short change current operations
that 1%, but unless they started getting ready for the construction, it would
never get done. "Computer, post a public notice that interested parties from
area 2 and area 3 are invited to look over the plans for their areas
reconstruction. These plans will be on display at the main meeting hall, as
well as outside Operations on the main board outside. They are not 'set in
stone' as we do want their input on what they would like. The plans are just a
starting point. Make sure to include that area 3 will have to be totally
demolished before it can be rebuilt, but that area 2 will get upgrades first,
and that we will make sure anyone from area 3 has accommodations during the
reconstruction phase of area 3. They will be able to return to the newly
rebuilt area 3 after construction is complete."

There, now his day was done. It had taken all day to get the reports done, the
area 2 and area 3 plans ready. Now he needed to get people in on the job.
"Addendum to the public notice, those wishing to assist in reconstruction should
apply with operations. This is not a Starfleet only reconstruction. We want
the people to decide what they want, and we will help them accomplish it."

Justin sat back and reviewed the work order for tomorrow. "Computer, schedule
Alpha shift to start work on area 1 sickbay. It had a need for 2 more bio beds
to be repaired. Allocate necessary resources to get that done. Beta shift is
to finish up if Alpha isn't able to. Gamma shift needs to work on the main
operation building. We need it to survive even if the main dome is totally
shattered. Upgrades are to be Gamma shifts top priority. If Alpha or Beta shift
complete things early, have them start constructing needed equipment for area
2's reconstruction. Have the materials stored in the Operation's warehouse near
the shuttle pads. Send request to security to have that warehouse checked at
least once every 2 hours. We will have a lot of very resource expensive
material there within the next month. I don't want to have to replace any of
it."

With that, Justin headed home to change into civilian clothes, and then to find
someplace to eat. He had heard about a new-ish restaurant, and he was eager to
try it out.
