Fresh from leaving the Admiral's office Toby made his way back towards his
office and Dharmajiva's office. Well his old office, he'd not be spending
much more time there that was for sure. There was many things that needed
seeing to, that he had to make sure the Captain knew about and of course he
needed to make sure the Captain knew of the transfer. As he made his way
through the streets there were shouts and yells that made him wince
inwardly, he really wanted to stay and work things out here but that would
be someone else's job. After the revelation of his telepathic abilities and
the new strength of those abilities it was best if he left, even if it felt
like he was running.

After a brisk walk he made his way inside the building and made his way to
Captain Dharmajiva's office, pressing the announcicator and waiting. He
didn't even bother to check to see if the captain was inside, the man was a
relief to Toby's senses in that he did not have the same sense of presence
most people had, it was if someone taught him how to hide his mind, about
the only time Toby really felt the man was when the man felt strongly about
something. So he waited and hoped that the demi-cardassian was in.

[Inside Captain's Office (yes no ready room here fellas)]

"Damn Clum, persistent little b-tard. Putting it into racial issues, an
Andorian and Cardassian." it was a part of the interview that Vin
particularly hated, for so many years he had grown up on Earth to find that
there was no 'racial-segregation' in Starfleet, only to find out here, on
the outskirts, racial-segregation was actually encouraged. Vin took it from
the fact that there were a massive amount of Xenophobic races around these
parts.

The announciator took Vin quite by surprise, he was about to retire for the
night and finally get back to his wife and children. After all, the missus
would be getting cranky right now. Oh yeah, sure she supported him fully and

new he had to put in the long hours sometimes, but still family was
important.

So, the Captain decided to continue packing up, and only left to see who the

visitor was when he was ready to leave. He hoped it didn't take as long as
his interview with Clum. But of course, when he saw Toby there, and judging
by the facial expression, something important was afoot.

"Toby, what brings you here?" questioned the demi-cardassian.

"I was not sure if you were aware, yet, of my transfer or not and I thought
I would be kind enough to say good bye." He grinned, "I have my own ship
now."

"So... I guess this is congratulations then?" Vin wasn't sure, it seemed as
if the part betazoid was worried, and not only about what was to come but
other things as well. The Captain decided to try and keep things light by
putting some humour into the situation, but Vin's humour wasn't the
greatest. "Well, at least you came to see me... not like that ungrateful
Mike Saladin when K`y stole him off me." It was meant in jest...

Toby grinned at the jest, "That might have something to do with why I came
to say good bye or there could be more. Actually, there is more." He sighed
and took a deep breath before continuing, "It is very likely that Cait will
want to transfer to my ship, I will of course refuse the transfer if you
still need or want her here, though I can say that I think Katerina
Wilkinson is more than capable of stepping up. I'm also afraid my actions
during the hospital debacle may have well made things worse and I don't want

you or the others to think I'm running out because things are now too hot."

He took a breath, mainly to break his torrent of information, then
continued, "Also Ensign Lia Argo, her actions during the riot are well
deserving of a medal and Cho'lu put in a recommendation for promotion for
her as well. The rest, I will do my best to make sure things are as neat and

orderly as possible before leaving so that your next XO isn't in danger of
being lost in the paperwork and all."

There was more, but now that he was actually face to face with the Captain
it had merrily flown out the window. "There is more, but I cannot, for the
life of me, remember what it was now." He grinned sheepishly.

"Stress less. You will need the time to prepare for your new Command. I am

sure whomever I assign as XO can step up and fulfill your role." Vin
immediately acted on the verbal barrage of all information that was passed
on by dismissing the majority of it as not being as important as the coming
command for the newly appointed Commanding Officer.

A sheepish but grateful smile graced Toby's face at the advice, and the
assurance that whomever Vin assigned would be up to the task of picking
things up where Toby left off.

"As for keeping a family together, I am not going to stand in the way.
Manning and it's issues aren't really your concerns right now. Let go, we
are going to be okay." Vin realised that the passion that Toby had for being

an XO was like a parent for their children. Leaving was going to be a
difficult thing for the part betazoid.

The smile went from sheepish and grateful to quite grateful that he wasn't
going to keep Cait if she wanted to go. Toby knew the two had a relationship
prior to Toby coming into Cait's life and he half expected the
demi-Cardassian to want to keep his friend because she was a top notch
doctor.

Toby didn't have as many Commands as Vin did under his belt, Vin had once
the 'family like passion' but now he had gotten used to the moving and
fluctuating families. "Just one thing Toby. Leave notes on what you
believe needs to be done, then take the time off to smell the flowers, you
are entering a whole new ball game being a Commanding Officer now, you might

never get the time to breath again, at least until you get used to it."

A nod, "I will, leave notes and take a moment, I have to at least for a
little bit. Wouldn't be right to not celebrate one's birthday."

The demi-cardassian smiled, as it was the weight of the world was upon him,
and it continued that way with this new burden of manning, but he as always
would deal with it. "Good luck Toby, and god speed..."

Vin reached out his hand to shake the new Commanding Officer's hand.
"Congratulations..."

Toby shook his hand, "Thank you Captain, it has been a pleasure serving
under you, even if Paradise isn't."

It was realised almost a little too late but as Toby was leaving Vin said
"... Oh Toby, what was the name of that ship again?"

Toby stopped at the door and turned to look at Vin, "The USS Tremaine." Then
he slipped out.
