Katerina sat quietly at her desk reflecting on recent events while looking over current patient charts. She wished she could have been more help to Cait and Toby than to treat them with the neural inhibitors. "Doctor...."came a soft feminine voice and then the hand on her shoulder. Kat looked up and to the owner of the hand. "Oh....sorry...." she said apologetically. "Ma'am....you have a civilian patient waiting in exam 4. "Thank you Diane..." She said as she moved from her seat and followed the nurse.

"I'm doctor Wilkinson....and you are?" she inquired of the very pregnant woman on the exam table. "I'm Vashti....Vashti Trenko.." she replied placing her hand over her stomach and looking very worried. Kat gave a nod to her nurse Diane indicating she'd need the woman to stay and assist with the exam. "Have you been seen before Vashti?" she asked as she slowly picked up the tricorder and began to scan the woman while she talked with her. This practice always seemed to put patients at eases even during the most difficult of exams. Kat monitored the readings relaying bits of information to her nurse for charting notes. Kat's brow furrowed as she moved the tricorder over her patient's extended belly she wasn't exactly liking what she was seeing it would be evident that Vashti not only had not been seen but the baby was showing signs of distress. "Vashti.....I need to check you more thoroughly." she said as she helped the woman lay down before performing a hands on exam. "Have you felt movement from the baby?" she asked. Vashti shook her head "not in the past couple of days.....that's why I came to see you." she informed Kat. 

Kat gently palpated the woman's stomach gently pressing here and there. "Diane could you get a sterile drape and then help Vashti to remove her garments?" she asked looking over to her nurse while she stepped back to make some more notes in the woman's chart. Once Vashti was ready Kat moved back to the exam table to continue the exam. "Okay Vashti......I can't let you leave this hospital.....you need to be admitted." she explained. "I am going to send you to the OR for a cesarean emergency delivery in order to save the baby."

Vahsti's eyes widened as Kat told her the news "Are you sure?" she asked Kat. Kat gave a nod "Yes.....I'm sorry but there isn't any other way.....your bay is in distress and it might not be too long before he or she puts your life in jeopardy." she explains. "Everything should go smoothly and you'll have a beautiful baby in your arms....but right now I think we should move ahead with getting you admitted and to the operating room." she told the woman before leaving Vashti to be prepped for surgery by Diane and a couple more nurses.

[hours later]

"Vashti is resting comfortably and the baby seems to be doing well" Diane informed Kat upon entering her office again. "Thank you Diane.."
