Justin tapped his comm. "Lox to Cunningham, please join me in Main Operations." He tapped his comm. again "Lox to Chief Petty Officer Adin, please join me in Main Operations." With that he stepped out of his office and to the main desk-style console that sits in the middle of Operations. It was good to be the Chief, people come to him, not the other way around. Max was actually already in Ops, back in his corner quietly working on his various projects. As was often the case he was so engrossed that he had become oblivious to the rest of the world and he jumped a bit at the sound of Lox's voice. He immediately logged off, after saving his work of course, and walked over to join the Operations Chief. "You need me, sir?" "Yes, it's time to get some stuff built. Planning time is done, now comes the tedious part." Justin pulled up one of the housing unit plans. "This is our first one. It is going next to the new hospital." "Fantastic, what is our first step?" Justin might have called construction tedious but Max was looking forward to it. "We need to get materials on-site for the start of construction, along with the equipment to reduce the rubble that is there, back into materials we can re-use." Justin said. "I want you on the getting equipment in place part." "What about industrial replicators? I heard Orion is delivering two. If we had one of those on site we could use it for just about everything we need, including recycling the rubble. In fact," Max started typing down the idea on his ever present PADD as he said it. "We could place it on it's own rolling platform. We could then more easily move the replicator from construction site to construction site." "We have 1 replicator, at the moment. It will have to do. The others, while they are supposed to be delivered by the Orion, won't be ready for use for at least 2 weeks after they arrive." Justin said. "Right, so until then work with what we got. I will gets with Operations to requisition the appropriate equipment. What about engineering teams?" "For now, you get 3 crewman level techs. There are a few civilians looking for work as laborers as well, just.. keep an eye on them, and secure anything you transport out of our compound here. Too many supplies have gone missing for us to be careless. Also, wages will be very low for the laborers, 15% below standard scale at the moment. So make sure they know that before you accept them. We are on an overly tight budget still. Someone has been using way too much replicator time and now we pay the price for it." Justin wasn't happy. No, he wasn't happy at all over that loss of resources to some unknown user. "Hmm... the low wages will not attract much in the way of quality help, but I'll do what I can. Sir, if there is nothing else, I'll get right on this." "That's it, unless you find Chief Petty Officer Adin. If you do, make sure that Adin comes to see me." Justin said. "I really hate putting people on report." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Respectfully Submitted Lieutenant Commander Justin Lox Chief of Operations Ensign Max Cunningham Engineer Paradise IV
