Down on the planet an ensign called out to Yim’Bar, “Sir, Captain Blake is on the Com for you.”
"Put it through to my desk, if you are able." Yim'Bar said smiling. It worked and Yim'Bar replied to Captain Blake. "Captain Blake...That sounds good. Sir, how might I be of assistance?"
The frown and worry melted away when it was Yim’Bar who he was conversing with after all, “Congratulations and thank you. Well I was calling about Sing, was wondering if you wanted him back or if I should find something of a permanent place for him here.”
"Captain, I am carrying two roles these days, Security and Executive Officer. As the Chief of Security, It is my opinion that Mr. Charles Sing, Au Pair, needs to remain with you at least for awhile. While you are free from this place, with all of the terror, sedition..." Yim'Bar looked for the right word and settled, "with all the chaos down here, there is no telling what might be aboard that fine ship you have. Petty Officer Tao is a good man and will be useful to you up there. He is loyal and highly trained. If you want to disgorge him along the way we will welcome him back but I have a feeling you and Commander Blake will be hard pressed to find another Au Pair with his qualifications." Yim'Bar smiled to himself, Sing was the best man for the job no questions asked.
“Well if you’re willing to part with Mr. Sing and of course I’m sure we can find a place for Petty Officer Tao. I will admit that Mr Sing was of a great help getting Rose up here onto the ship without her mother being with us at the time, since he stopped her from racing out of quarters the moment I set her down.” He smiled at the thought. “I just wanted to know for sure if he was expected back or not.”
Yim'Bar pulled up Petty Officer Tao's personnel file on his computer. "Sir I am forwarding Petty Officer Ming Tao's official personnel file. The record I have here states that he has been transferred to inactive reserve status and his whereabouts are currently unknown pending investigation by Security Department Paradise-IV. As busy as it has been down here sir, I cannot see getting to something as trivial as an inactive reservists who cannot be located. Let me pull up Mr. Charles Sing and insure that he is not a safety concern for you sir. We would not want someone on Termaine with a criminal record or who was unknown to us." Yim'Bar pressed a few buttons, "Charles Sing carries a Bachelor's Degree in Child Behaivour and has most recently been employed as a Kindergarten teacher. His background is impecable. If this file matches the man you have hired as your Au Pair then you have most likely scored a true find sir." Yim'Bar smiled at himself as he cleaned Tao's file further stating he had been located and was desiorous to remain on inactive reserve status. There were no visible connections bewteen Tao and Sing the two seemed from the outside to be completely seperated, not the same man as they truly were.
“Understood Commander,” silently Toby marveled at Yim’Bar’s ability for intrigue, “Should we encounter Petty Officer Tao do you wish him returned to Paradise?”
"His personnel file states that he is in good standing with the Federation sir, should you encounter him it would seem you could do with him whatever you might need. I am sure he would make a fine addition to any security department. As his previous commanding officer, I rate him exceptional in all categories, he was a real loss." Yim'Bar said. "I wish you all the best sir, with your new Au Pair. If I ever have chilkdren of my own I will be seeking him myself."
“Perhaps by the time you have children of your own, he will be available to help with your children, and thank you for easing my mind on matters. I didn’t want to steal away someone you needed.” Toby smiled in relief this time.
"Sir, surely you are not suggesting that personnel are property to be stolen." Yim'Bar said with a huge white smile against his blue face. "He is all yours free and clear...Maybe one day I will need something like a couple hours with a replicator, a holodeck, or some real luxury item like temperature control and I can come visit you on that fancy ship of yours. I hope things are going well for you sir, congratulations."
Toby laughed, “Certainly you’re welcome to come visit them any time. Though you should have gotten parts for replicator repair and a couple of industrial sized replicators with what the Tremaine brought, and so far they are going well. I wish you luck with your new position, I’m glad to see you got it.”
"Sir, I will take that compliment as it has been intended, you of allpeople know what I am getting into. Thank you. I will take a rain check on the visit. Who knows maybe the Captain and I will find a reason to beam up on official business other than that, this desk and I are becoming good friends." Yim'Bar thought a minute and then asked, "Sir did you ever consider a pull out couch in this office. It is far nicer than my current billet it just needs a bed."
“You should be moving into my old quarters shortly, it’s not bad as far as quarters go on that frozen rock, but no I never did consider such. My wife and daughter would never have forgiven me if I never came home.” He chuckled.
"I am going to forego your previous quarters and seal them up until we get another high ranking officer with children. Way too much energy I just don't need. I am sure they would be nice but Bachelor's quarters will be okay for me. Besides Lox will think I am his hero if I chose to take an energy efficient place over that mansion you lived in. Paradise will always be here for you sir. If you and Commander Blake need some decent shoreleave and it has to be here you can have those quarters until they are filled, I will leave the power on but the switch off for you." Yim'Bar looked up away from the screen, "Sir it looks like Paradise is calling me, thanks for the get away. I can see the cleanliness and order in your background. It has the 'New Ship' smell too I bet."
"Yes it does, and if you think my old office is nice and spacey you should check out my ready room it's palatial." He laughed, "I'll let you go, and thank you." With that Toby ended the call and settled back one concern dealt with.
