Kylee grunted as she lifted her head, looking out from under the
makeshift environment she had been working on for the last hour to try
and get it to work. "Over here," she said, turning her attention back
to the open panel, brow furrowed as she tried to figure out what was
causing her such grief in getting the aeration system working properly
while the lighting was running.
Justin headed over to Kylee. "I have a rather large shipment for you when you
are ready."
Kylee quickly climbed out from under the area, dusting her hand off.
"Really? Any of the animals arrive?" she asked, excitement on her
face.
"Several. Mostly the small rodent-like variety, but there are a couple of
Bird species too." Justin said. "The storage crates have already been taken
to the new facility storage dock, waiting for your arrival to direct where they
should go."
"Good to know. Will need to examine the bird species, to make sure
which varieties can interaction together. Has any of the flora or
fauna for the aquatic or cave areas arrived yet?" Kylee asked, excited
to look at everything. "Actually.. care to walk with me over there?"
she asked.
"Lets go" Justin said, as he looked over the inventory PADD "Aquatic, yes.
Caves... only small plants and a small batch of fungus was requested."
"That's fine.. cave environments tend to take a bit to get started..
if we're going to have animals.. I want the plants going, and then
bring in the animals, bugs, etc," Kylee said. "Looking forward to
getting everything in. How soon will I be able to move everything in?"
she asked.
"Well, that will depend on transportation availability and availability of the
creatures requested. Assuming the most optimal conditions, another month.
Figuring worst case.. a year or more." Justin said.
"Well, need to be careful in what comes in when. If the environments
are not ready, not all can be stored in the temporary setups. I've got
a few contacts I can reach out to with regards to getting the species
out here," Kylee said. "Any of the edible garden items yet? That I
really want to get going soon."
"All of those arrived on the Orion. They are in storage, awaiting your
inspection." Justin answered.
"Oh, that's great! I can get that started easily enough on that in
temporary housing. Want to make some of the plants portable for
distribution anyway," Kylee said, a smile on her face.
Justin offered her the PADD "Details and storage information are here."
Kylee accepted the PADD, looking at the list of plants. "Hmm.. going
to need lots of help getting this all set up. Jackson will help, I'm
sure.. not sure how much help I can get from civilians.. especially
with me leading several groups to the brig lately.."
"Well, there is still a lockdown on a good portion of the Orion-delivered items,
but our back road deliveries are ready for your collection. They are in
warehouse 4, across the road from your new facilities." Justin smirked.
"Engineering is having fun with some of the warehouses. One of my crewmen, 2nd
class, set up a roller-derby rink and has one of the locals organizing gambling
on the events. According to my crewman, they are making quite a bit of cash."
"Yes, with what they are delivering, I am sure that there is a close
watch on anything going out. I'll bring by the snowcat and haul the
plants out," Kylee said, her brow arching. "A roller derby rink?
Well.. guess anything for the civilians to enjoy and associate with us
is a good thing. Hoping this garden thing will be good as well, offer
fresh fruits and vegetables to all."
"Sounds good to me, just expect break ins and theft of anything you offer. We
really need to figure out why people are so against Starfleet and what we bring.
Why they want chaos instead of some form of civilization. " Justin shook his
head. "I just don't understand these people."
"Then, I'll put security on it, and will make sure it is locked down
when no one is there," Kylee said, pinching the bridge of her nose as
she sighed. "I don't know.. my guess.. most want normalcy.. there is a
group that just wants to be in control, and if they can't, they won't
let anyone create the normalcy."
"That is a reasonable explanation. I suggest you staff your facility 24/7
once we start getting it operational, and I suggest you ask security for
an officer on each shift as well." Justin said as they entered the
storage area where the materials were currently being stored. "Here we
are.. package group one, the ones NOT authorized by Starfleet. The
Starfleet authorized and delivered ones are still in lockdown. There was
a labeling snafu and we are trying to get it corrected."
"Yes, planning on it, though I am sure most of my time will be spent
there for the next few weeks," Kylee said, moving over to the
shipment. Walking around slowly, studying the different plants and
animals. "Well.. at least can say that this person you went through is
rather good at procuring the rare items," she murmured, catching sight
of a Pyrithian moon hawk. "Oh.. will have to be careful with you.."
she said, a grin on her face.
"Thought you would appreciate getting that one right away. The main
environment equipment is at your building, and ready for my people to put
it where you want it. They will be there tomorrow to hook up main power,
at 0400 hours." Justin said, then with a quick change of subject "I
understand you and Lt. Commander Zelen found something interesting out at
dome 2?"
"Yes, I do greatly. Want to get them over to the building and get them
in a place where they have more freedom. Sure that flight here could
not have been good on them," Kylee said, her brow arching as he
mentioned the tunnel. "You mean other then 10 men shooting at us?
Yeah.. we found that the tunnel under there has some kind of an
airlock door. Haven't checked it out yet, will once I have everything
secured with these plants and animals."
"Airlock? Why would there be an airlock underground?" Justin mused. "I want
to see it. Let me know when you go back to investigate."
"I was thinking.. either a tunnel out of the dome in to unsecured
area.. or needing to keep a room inside set in a certain way," Kylee
said, nodding slowly. "Once I can breathe, and get a few seconds to go
down there, I'll let you know."
"Okay. Let's get these loaded onto a transport and get them headed for your
facility." Justin said.
"Sounds like a plan, and I'll be back to the holding area to get my
other items checked and cleared. Don't want the plants left there too
long," Kylee said, smiling and moving to help load up this shipment.
