Openings in Research Project for On-campus Students

Multiple openings are available for first/higher degree on-campus students in Department of Information Technology funded project, “A New Distributed Computing Framework for Data Mining”. Students can join the project by registering for project type courses, research practice, thesis, dissertation,etc.for second semester 2012-13 or as Project Fellow (only for higher degree students). Project fellows will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 10000/- pm. Preference will be given to those who can commit for longer period (preferably 2 semesters). Students with one or more of the following skills should apply:

Desired Skills-

· Good C programmer

· Familiarity with Linux environment (installation/configuration of packages, basic set of commands, etc.)

· Familiarity with Parallel and Distributed Computing concepts

· Prior experience with any Parallel Programming language specially MPI and/or OpenMP will be a big plus

· Working experience with MapReduce/Hadoop

· A good understanding of Data Mining Algorithms (should have done the DM course with a good grade) &

· A good undertanding of Spatial Data Structures (R-trees, Quad-Trees, Kd-trees, Grid files)

Interested students should submit their applications, giving relevant details, to Mr. Sanwar Mal in CSIS Office before 5:00 pm on 29th October, 2012.
