Cloud Computing One Day work shop

Dear all,

Cloud Computing SIG  BITS Pilani is planning to conduct a one day work shop on "Cloud Computing Architectures and Hadoop Distributed Framework".

Date is not finalized yet .. mostly it will be after Oasis !!.

Workshop AGENDA:

hour 1: 

• Introduction to Cloud Computing .
• Cloud vs Grid vs Parallel vs Cluster vs Distributed Computing Paradigms.
• Fundamentals of Distributed Computing

hour 2: 

•  Virtualization and Networking behind Cloud Computing.

hour 3: 

• Hadoop Distributed Computing Framework Architecture (MapReduce, HDFS etc..)

hour 4: 

• Amazon (EC2,S3) and Google(App Engine) Cloud Architectures.

hour 5: 

• Hadoop Installation for Single Node Cluster

hour 6 : 

• Hands on Experience on  Hadoop Map Reduce programs to make massively distributed applications.

hour 7: 

• Setting up Multi Node Cluster (if time permits).

Since its a one day workshop (5 to 6 hours) we are planning for registration to interested participants with 100 Rupees registration fee.

We are taking registration fee because planning to provide snacks during break time. Since the group formed just a month ago we don't have funds.

If CSA and ISA supports .. we wont even take Registration fee !! assuming they will consider it as their own event.

Obvious Question: Who are the speakers ??.

For introduction we will talk to CSIS Professors (Prof. Sundar Balasubramanian (Cloud Computing Introduction), Prof. Rahul Benerjee (Virtualization and Networks) and Prof. Navneet Goyal (Hadoop Distributed Computing )). 

And practical sessions will be given by CC SIG Team (we have team of more than 15, they will assist during workshop).

I would appreciate if CSA and ISA Coordinators help us in approaching faculty for introductory sessions !!. 

Expected Audience: 3rd and 4th yearites, ME students, interested 2nd yearites who have decent knowledge on CS Subjects (OS,Networks,Programming).

Important Note: We would appreciate voluntary help from people who already worked on Hadoop. 

@Pranav can you forward this to oncampus group who organized Hadoop lectures last year.
