Hello all

GTUG-BITS Pilani chapter's first event was held in 2206. It had a decent turnout of 40 people. We had talks on Python, Android-Go and HTML5. PFA the slides used by Ramakrishna and Raghavendra in the session.

If there's anyone who's yet to subscribe to the mailing list, follow this link.

These resources are also attached to event #1 in our website. You can find our YouTube channel here.

We would request you to feed us back through the form you can find here so that we can make sure that your experience with GTUG is much more better.

Small description about what happened in each talk is as follows.

#1-Talk on Python by Nikhil Murthy:

  • A brief insight into what Python is all about was given.
  • A sample code was explained to show how interesting Python is.
  • An introduction to how Python scripting can be used to create various projects was given.

#2- Talk on Android and Go by Ramakrishna

  • Introduction to how Android became so famous
  • Android architecture has been explained.
  • Explained the open source nature of Android OS and how its open source nature has helped build up many devices like Aakash and Amazon Kindle Fire
  • Gave us an insight into why Go is so fast and so advanced than other programming languages.
  • Showed us how popular it has become because of its features.

#3- Talk on HTML5- The Wow by Raghavendra

  • Introduction to what HTML5 and CSS3 are.
  • Demos of HTML5 and CSS3 features.
  • Explanation about how it is no more Web "Designing" but is Web "Developing".

We request all users to explore various concepts that were explained in this event and gain some knowledge over it so that it can help one in developing useful tools.

For Google I/O videos, search for user named "IcarusX" and "Alakay" in your DC hubs. You can find a folder named Google IO that has all Google I/O videos. Watch them to have a look at the innovation at Google.

Stay tuned for details about Event #2.

P.S: Don't forget to provide your feedback here.

Dear all,

Have a look at  "Go Tour" once !!.

We(GTUG BITS Pilani) are planning to conduct :

1. Hands on session on Go Programming (next event).
2. Hackathon Session (Go). (in November).

Try to check the compilation speed of Go while practicing the programs.

Programming in Go is cool and fun.

Thanks.

Keep GOing !!.
