The first public poll of the general election in Ohio was just released, and you need to take a look:
This is a big deal. It’s the first public poll of the general election – and the data proves Ohio is ready to unseat my opponent, Jon Husted, and pave a path for us to flip the Senate in November.
The momentum behind our campaign is growing, but so is the target on our backs. Republicans can see we’re putting up a fight, and they’re going to do whatever it takes to stop us in our tracks. Before I say more, can you split any amount between my campaign and Maggie Hassan so we can hit our $100K rapid response goal and take on whatever’s next?
What we’re building together is truly remarkable, and I see it at every stop I make across the state. Folks are fed up with rising costs, rampant corruption, and a rigged system that makes it impossible to get ahead no matter how hard you work. So they’re showing up to make a change and proving that we have the support to flip this seat, even in a state Trump won by 11 points last time.
Seriously, we’re 8 points ahead of our opponent in this latest poll. That’s the good news.
Here’s the tough part: Outside Republican groups and corporations see these polls, too. They’ve already publicly announced I’m one of their top targets and are spending $83 million against me, so another poll like this will give them all the more reason to dump a fortune into Ohio to take me down.
I don’t know what’s coming next, but I know the only way we can keep this going in our favor is by fighting hard each and every day until the election. Ohio broke the record for the most expensive Senate race in history last time, so we need a lot of support if we’re going to pull this off.
