Today marks four years since Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court justices overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping away 50 years of constitutional protections for reproductive rights.

Today marks four years since Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court justices overturned Roe v. Wade, stripping away nearly 50 years of constitutional protections for reproductive rights and unleashing a wave of Republican attacks on reproductive freedoms across the country. Right now, 20 states ban or severely restrict abortion access beyond what existed under the standard set by Roe v. Wade. In 13 of those states, there is a total ban, including civil and criminal penalties for health care providers. These attacks didn’t start in Congress. They started in state legislatures. After Roe fell, every Democratic legislative majority at the time took steps to protect or expand abortion rights. Thanks to the DLCC’s wins in 2024, 160 million Americans will continue to have their reproductive rights protected by Democratic majorities in state legislatures. As Republicans enact their extreme agenda at the federal level, Republicans in state legislatures continue to push the boundaries with cruel and extreme laws to limit access to reproductive health care. Electing Democrats to state legislatures is the best way to defend abortion and reproductive rights, which are on the line in states across the country. Together in this fight, Team DLCC P.S.
