We’re in for another hot summer thanks to the climate crisis, Mona. Summer in the northern hemisphere has hardly begun and it’s already proven deadly. A heatwave in India reaching 116 degrees Fahrenheit killed over a dozen people, while several more died in France during the country’s hottest ever day in May. Record-breaking heatwaves are increasingly more common due to climate-warming pollution, and this summer is no exception. Europe has already experienced one of country’s worst heatwaves on record. And with the worst of the summer heat still ahead of us, this is just the start. While a hotter than average summer is expected across the US, the Trump administration is still propping up the biggest contributors to climate pollution by protecting Big Oil and sinking money into the outdated and dirty coal industry. The sooner we leave fossil fuels and their destructive consequences behind the better. Join us in working to stop fossil fuels and advance the clean energy solutions that will make our communities cooler, healthier, and more resilient.
