Exactly seven years ago today — on July 25, 2019 — I found myself at the heart of a constitutional crisis. I sat in the Situation Room and listened as Donald Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to dig up dirt on his political rival ahead of the 2020 elections.
I blew the whistle on his corrupt phone call, an act that led to Trump’s first impeachment and ultimately cost me my military career.
People told me to keep my head down. But I took an oath to uphold and protect our Constitution when I joined the military — and it was my duty to report that call no matter the personal cost.
I testified before Congress to stand up for our democracy. This led to the president unleashing a reign of intimidation, harassment, and retribution not just against my family and me, but against all of us.
Today, our country is in crisis. We are entering a dark chapter of American history, one that echoes early stages of authoritarian power consolidation seen elsewhere.
Ordinary citizens are getting attacked on the streets. The price of groceries and gas are sky-high. Health care premiums are through the roof.

I stepped up when our country needed a soldier. I stood up when someone had to say no one’s above the law. I am asking you to stand with me now.
