I want to start by saying I am so grateful for all of the questions I received a few weeks ago. While I am not able to answer every question right now, I picked out a few that I thought were particularly important at this moment.
Q: "How are Democrats planning on protecting democracy and holding illegal actions from a rogue administration accountable?"
A: Democrats are working to protect democracy every single day. When Donald Trump attempted to take over the Federal Election Commission and effectively end free & fair election oversight, the DSCC sued immediately to block his anti‑democratic power grab ‑‑ and we won. When he signed an Executive Order to attack Americans' right to vote by mail, we sued again, and that case is still ongoing.
The fact is, Mona, you are part of a broad, nationwide movement of Democrats who are fighting this president's illegal actions and holding this rogue administration accountable in every way they can. But the biggest thing we all can do to make that movement a success is to flip the Senate blue. With a Democratic Senate, we won't have to rely on Trump‑appointed judges and justices or a pro‑Trump GOP Senate majority to stop his extreme agenda ‑‑ we'll have the power to do it ourselves.
Q: "What are the greatest possibilities of electing Democrats in red states?"
A: I was so glad to get this question, because we've been able to expand the Senate map into MANY traditionally red states! James Talarico in Texas, Sherrod Brown in Ohio, and Mary Peltola in Alaska are all running neck‑and‑neck with Republicans in states Trump carried by double‑digits.
And now Josh Turek in Iowa is part of that group, too! The DSCC just released an internal poll showing his race TIED.
Our candidates have what it takes to flip even solidly red states blue, but it's going to take everything we have to ensure their victories. These are going to be some of the most‑watched races in the fall, because one of them (maybe even all of them!) could be the race that wins us the majority.
Q: "Does the DSCC have a plan to defeat the Republicans, and how do I help?"
A: We've laid out a clear path to take back the Senate this November. We've already got rock‑star candidates running in all the most competitive races ‑‑ now it's up to us to tell their stories, call out the hypocrisy of our Republican opponents, and focus on the issues that are most important to voters.
As for how you can help, I want to really emphasize this: It'll take every single person reading this email doing what you can if we're going to flip the Senate.
