I’m not one to exaggerate. So hear me out.

What you’re watching right now isn’t chaos. It’s a strategy.

Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth spent months attacking me and our free speech rights, and trying to convince the country that the military’s loyalty is to them, not the Constitution. Well, they’re wrong. And the courts agreed. But that’s who we’re dealing with.

Now, this:

Let me be direct about what just happened. Trump is refusing to sign a bipartisan housing bill that he said he would sign. This new law would have helped millions of Americans who can’t afford a home. He pulled it to extort Congress into passing the SAVE America Act.

What is the SAVE America Act? It’s a sweeping bill to restrict voting rights built around a problem that doesn’t exist. Noncitizen voting in federal elections is already illegal, already rare to the point of statistical irrelevance, and already prosecuted. The SAVE America Act would use debunked theories as a pretext to make it significantly harder for American citizens to register and vote, particularly working people without easy access to the documents to prove their citizenship.

It has failed in the Senate. Repeatedly. So Trump is now holding housing relief hostage to force it through.

Think about that. Real families, priced out of the housing market, are being used as leverage to pass a voter suppression bill aimed at the next election.

This isn’t incompetence. It’s a trade. He wants to trade your future home for his power.

But here is what I know. They can be beaten. We did it in 2020. We did it again in 2022. But the map is hard and Republican gerrymandering has made it even harder. We have an uphill battle in the House, and the Senate requires us to play defense in tough states while going on offense in others.

Winning requires resources, organization, and the willingness to fight.
