As you might’ve heard, it was my birthday yesterday. I wanted to take a minute and say THANK YOU! Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I feel so loved.
I know I’m not supposed to share my wish, but I can’t help it. I wish to continue our progress to make our communities even safer from gun violence.
I know it’s cheesy, but I’m serious.
When GIFFORDS was founded, a majority of elected officials didn’t dare to touch the issue of guns. They said it was “political poison.”
We changed that narrative.
Over the past decade, you have helped us put the NRA on defense and pass lifesaving legislation across the country — 820 gun safety laws and counting!
That’s only been possible because of people like you — stepping up and saying enough is enough. Thank you.
But you and I both know there’s more work to do. As we near the midterm elections, we must continue to take on these tough fights and raise our voices. For our children, for our communities, and for our country.
I’m so grateful for your commitment in this fight.
