Mona, we need to have a serious talk.

The Supreme Court term that just ended was, in my legal opinion, one of the worst in modern history.
|
|
This is the same Court that overturned Roe v. Wade, granted presidents broad immunity for criminal acts committed while in office, and transformed the once-rare "shadow docket" from an emergency procedural tool into a mechanism for blocking or overturning laws and lower-court rulings it disfavors.
|
|
This Trump-stacked Supreme Court has proven to be out of control.
|
|
If you believe Democrats in Congress need to fight to reform our corrupt Supreme Court and stop the ongoing assault on our voting, campaign finance, and reproductive rights, I'd be honored to have your support.

Let’s tally up just some of the wreckage of the latest Supreme Court session:
|
- They gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which guaranteed due process and equal protection for black and brown voters.
|
- They greenlit more dark money in our politics.
|
- They banned transgender girls from school sports.
|
- And they granted the president unprecedented power over independent government agencies.
|
|
With public opinion of the Supreme Court at all-time lows, now is the time to start thinking about serious reforms that can place the Court back on a more solid and legitimate footing with the American people.
|
|
I believe by implementing 18-year term limits, expanding the Court, and limiting the Court’s jurisdiction, we can finally rein in this out-of-control Supreme Court – because it is simply not enough for us just to pass better laws. We need a better Court too.
|
|
