Welcome back to the podcast and another episode of this mama means business. Today, I wanted to share what my own email list growth strategy has looked like and reveal to you what I would do if I was starting my email list from 0 today.

And it all happened through word-of-mouth. My opinion changed though when their referral networks seemed to dry up. But by then the pandemic hit and it was time to pivot anyway. So I did what most of us do at the start of a new business. I created a free resource. I linked it to my Instagram profile. I updated my bio and I thought I was done, but nothing happened. So instead of sitting back and waiting for that to change, I took things into my own hands.
David and I went to Oahu this last April, and it was simply magical. Although I have been to Oahu and Maui a few times in the past, this is the first time I really nailed the packing aspect. I felt super organized and prepared, and it definitely added to the relaxation of the trip. Here is a round up of what I see are as essentials to bring on a Hawaiian vacation, my Hawaii Packing List:
I have had this hanging toiletry bag forever! Great for a gal who likes her products, as you will see from me below. Again, keeps everything organized, and I love that you can hang it up to keep bathroom counter space free.
Packing clothes can get a bit tricky in Hawaii just from the sheer diversity of the activities you can partake in. In one day we took a hike, went to the beach, went to town for lunch, and had a nice dinner at the resort, which means you can either change 5+ times, or just make sure your clothing can be used for multiple activities. I personally brought 5 swimsuits, a few cute, loose dresses that could be used as a cover up or casual dinner dress, plus, not shown here, some workout crops and tanks for hikes. Here are the links for cute and insanely inexpensive Red Bandeau Bikini, incredibly flattering Striped One-Piece, then the white and blue Shift Dress, and blue Floral dress. you need at least a few floral pieces for Hawaii!
Again, Hawaii is diverse, so footwear will need to be a bit diverse too. I was actually shocked by how comfortable and perfect these Rebecca Minkoff block heel Sandals were in Hawaii. I wore them to dinner most nights and the light blue color worked so well with all of the flamboyant florals I was wearing.
Finally, if you planning on doing some hiking, I do recommend bringing a shoe with a good grip. These Danner Hiking Boots are incredibly well made (and good looking!!) but just as long as you bring a sneaker or sandal that will give you traction on a potentially wet or slick hike, you are good to go. I did not not pack shoes with good grip, and had to hang on to David for dear life on our way down the mountain. I felt like a toddler. But not as cute.
Well, there you have it! My tried and true packing list for Hawaii. Whether you are going to Maui, Oahu, or any island, you are bound to need the same things, but be sure to tell me if you find any goodies I must bring on my next trip. Kylie Cosmetics has confirmed that it is vegan. ? Kyle Cosmetics uses the same packaging for all products, despite the shade, and they have a long list of ingredients listed under +/- which means may or may not contain. Carmine is included in that list because it is in some shades but not all.
Grab your popcorn, people: The drama between Kylie Jenner and Jeffree Star is back. The beauty blogger and reality star have been on-and-off frenemies since 2016, and Star's most recent tweet storm says that they are most definitely "off" at the moment.
Like many bloggers and vloggers, Star has been receiving free products from Kylie Cosmetics ahead of their releases to review for his channel, but he apparently noticed that he has been cut from the brand's PR distribution list. It's likely he realized he was no longer on the list when he didn't receive an early sample of Kylie's new Weather Collection palette. So naturally, he took to Twitter-dot-com to spill some piping hot tea.
A quick refresher: When Kylie Cosmetics first launched its lip kits in 2016, Star tweeted his disappointment in the products with his million-plus followers. Jenner never responded, but according to Marie Claire, the pair made up and apparently went shopping for Birkins together. But then, when Kylie Cosmetics released its brush set last year, Star took to Twitter again to comment on how ridiculously overpriced it was ("Are the new @kyliecosmetics makeup brushes made out of animal hair? Is that why they're so expensive?? BITCH I'M STILL DUMBFOUNDED!!!!") and posted a video comparing them to something you could buy at a dollar store. He also claimed that she copied the packaging from his liquid lipstick for her new concealer.
Kylie, for her part, has stayed radio silent on the brush-bashing from Star, but clearly, she's found a way to show him that she was not here for all of the drama without saying anything at all. Touch.

It's that time of year again when we rank the top prospects in Major League Baseball, some of whom will be in the majors in 2024 and others who will rise through the minors during the upcoming season.
First, there's a consensus from everyone I spoke with across the industry that there's a notable and uncharacteristic drop-off in the area of the list around Nos. 40 to 50, which is why I put the 50/55 Future Value (FV) break right there. I'm used to having a deep group of players my sources are arguing for at the end of this list but nobody really did that this time, so I resorted to including more players from the loaded 2023 draft than I expected.
The second trend is the large number of recently drafted players making the list. What's the reason for that drop-off in the middle of the rankings? Nobody was really sure. Maybe teams are pushing players to the big leagues faster, creating a temporary vacuum behind them? Maybe talent is cyclical and after a historically strong draft class -- possibly the best in a few decades -- this is the calm before the storm of a bunch of those players rising up the list together, once they get full seasons to prove themselves. In anticipation of that being true, I was very aggressive with 2023 draftees coming off strong debuts.
