FY18 grant & stuff to think about

Hi friends,

so COA just released information on their grant workshops for FY18- I had talked with Liz about this briefly during Hot Belly rehearsal one day, but I will not actually be in the country to submit the grant this year.

I am happy to still work on it with y'all, but with my work situation looming larger on the horizon, I think this year might be a good time to transition someone else into overseeing the grant moving forward (this would include doing the report for FY18 - I will still do FY17's report this year, but I am very nervous about what capacity I will have next year for paper chairs.)

Liz - you had expressed some interest in working on the grant and felt like you would be more available to take on a larger administrative role after graduation. Would this work for you? Lisa - are you interested?

Whoever is interested, I suggest they come with me to a FY18 COA workshop (we just have to go to one - I can go to either):

Thursday, March 23, - 7:30-8:30pm

Spicewood Springs Library, 8637 Spicewood Springs Rd

 

Saturday March 25, 10:30-11:30.

Southeast Branch Library – 5803 Nuckols Crossing Rd

The application is due May 1 online- but since we are applying as a Sponsored Project, ACA has to have the final version of the application usually 2 weeks in advance. I will be out of the country as of April 26, so ideally we would have the grant and all support materials uploaded by the 17th anyway. But that does put pressure on us to work on the grant in late March/early April. (Maybe after the COA workshop, we can get a drink/lunch and talk through timeline, etc.)

This obviously means we need a paper chairs company meeting to talk about our FY18 hopes and dreams. And an internal conversation about my role next year - I currently keep an eye on our financial "big picture" because of my work on the grant's budget, but that should really transfer to the next grant person as well.

I think we will also need a conversation with ACA about switching their contact information to the next person, maybe an in-person meeting for y'all to be introduced to Erin and ACA's other folks?, etc.... (all pretty straight forward but I think a clear hand off is important.)

So I guess my two questions are:

Who is interested in working with me to submit the FY18 grant and then can oversee it next year?

Can we have a company meeting sometime in the last 2 weeks of March? (what date? - I'm leaning towards a weekend date so we can have a nice chunk of time? and who can come?)

Heya loves! I'm going to be out of town most of the next two weeks, but if we can push to the beginning of April, I'd love to join the meeting! If it can't wait that long I understand completely.

Spring, I can attend the workshop with you 3/23. I do believe I will have the time to manage the grant in the future, especially if Lisa approach it as a duo. Lisa, you down? And if Rachel could help out/ consult that would be awesome.

I'm happy to host a meeting at my house toward the end of March.

Thanks, Liz! I've got us down for the 23rd!

It might make sense to have the company meeting after we go to the grant workshop? (Liz, you and I will keep working of course on the grant in the meantime.)

I can meet on the 26th, but I'm also not against meeting in early April if that helps more people attend. Dendy, when exactly are you back? Could we meet on the 1st or 2nd?

Hey everyone, I miss y'all. 

Unfortunately, Jason Tremblay's health has taken a dramatic turn the last few days...he's been admitted to ICU at St. David's. His liver is failing. It's not looking good. I thought you all should know, but please don't make this information public. I suggest reaching out to me with any questions. Sheila is overwhelmed right now. Julie and I will be helping Sheila as they transfer him into hospice care today and will be taking care of Oliver this weekend. 😞

Thanks everyone. A lot of Jason's old friends have come in town so Sheila is feeling supported. She sent Julie home from the hospital and we're gonna check in later today. 

Thanks for your help Spring. I spoke with Jason on the phone five days ago. He was in good spirits preparing for the meeting. It's all gone so bad so quickly...

Noel, this is terrible news. Let us know if you need any auxilary support. Thoughts, prayers, vibes, any goodness I can throw at Jason's family (and yours as you take care of them), know that it's heading that way.

The hospital has helped Jason be much more comfortable. He's got his skin color back and is more relaxed. He's on a lot of anti-anxiety and pain meds so he's not very lucid. 

He is definitely in the final stage of his cancer battle. The goal is to have him living comfortable and pain free at home. If this happens there may be opportunities for final visits.
